Situated 1 km from the Skärsjön Beach, this unique eco-friendly property offers free use of bicycles and boats and traditional forest huts with a wood heater. Skinnskatteberg village centre is 3 km away.
All the self-serviced forest huts at STF Kolarbyn Eco-Lodge are built in all natural materials. Each is without electricity and running water. No shower facilities are available on site, but guests can bathe in the nearby lake.
Leisure facilities at STF Kolarbyn include a floating wood fire sauna and a communal hut with a fireplace and sheep skin rugs. Activities like elk and beaver safaris and survival courses can be arranged.
Self-catering breakfast, lunch and dinner can be booked on site. Guests can also use the barbecue area and outdoor dining area.
Hiking trails are found in the surrounding area. Skinnskatteberg Train Station is a 7-minute drive away.

Incredible location, we stayed 3 nights, rowed around the lake, built fires, made, food, epic scenery, great experience, will definitely come back again. Snowed on the last night, which was really cool. We were left to our own devices and had the best time ever. Andreas was really helpful and very accomodative. Picked some wild mushrooms on the last day and had a feast!

Its a totally unquie experience - living in this kind of lodge in the
middle of the forest having to burn wood yourself to warm up the room.
But the place is amazaing. Quite beautiful, wonderful clean lake nearby.
Really authentic.
The huts, basic facilities, proximity to lake and the woods.
We were not prepared for this. Read carefully the description to
this "hotel"!!! Its not a hotel. You have to have a
sleeping bag (or provided at the lodge) and be prepared to live wild
life in the forest.
The fact that after our initial introduction, it was run by interns who didn't care about the business. We were there to enjoy nature, and ended up listening to the interns getting drunk with two of the guests all night. If it was more of a hostel situation it would be fine, but we paid a lot to be there! Also too close to a road and train line, for saying it was 'nature'.
