Besides the fact that the hotel is an interior design gem in the middle of Colombo and the staff were fantastic from start to finish - at the end of our trip my wife fell very ill. The hotel staff rushed us to the hospital, where they didn't speak English, they stayed with me and dealt with everything until around 3am. They were patient, caring, and generally fantastic. It was a real pleasure to stay in Cinnamon Grand Colombo at the end of our holidays in Sri Lanka.
What struck us first is a very warm and professional welcome. I wish I could have that in Europe. The room was not very big as you could expect from an executive room yet spacious enough. The design really nice yet simplistic which I really liked. A complimentary bottle of wine, mineral water, a bowl of fruit and chocolates were a nice surprise.

The whole experience was so relaxing, the facilities amazing and the people were very attentive and helpful. Incredibly good value for money and well located to do lots of interesting day trips. I loved the fact that the staff were incredibly friendly. We arrived early and our room was not ready. They made every effort to ensure it was ready 2 hours prior to usual check in and they even phoned us on our cell phone to let us know it was ready.

If you are staying in Colombo this is the place to be if you don't
want the generic hotel that's in every city. It is still the best
location even though there is a refurbished hotel at the other end of
Galle face Green with nice rooms but not not the same quality or class
by a million miles. Make sure you are in the new wing as the old wing
is now very tired although it was the best a few years back. I think
it is being refurbished and then it will be the better wing as the
rooms are huge.

The room was incredible. Like stepping abck in time. It was full of beautiful old furniture yet the design was modern - a perfect fusion. this was my second time I stayed at the saffron. first time i came for my business and i had a good time in my first stay. that is why i decided to come second time with my wife to stay in the saffron. we had a very good time and my wife was very happy. we got a nice room with antique furniture. and hotel staff arranged city tour. it was really nice. we enjoyed in the beach and could see nice places. food also really nice. we could arranged a trip to kandy with a hotel car. everything was good.
