  We spent the day in San Sebastian on the worst of possible days: terribly cold, rainy, stormy weather and the famous strike with everything imaginable closed: no bar or restaurant open to get a drink or lunch! Then we got to pension Garate and a most helpful and friendly young lady who spoke English very well welcomed us. The accommodation was in an excellent location, very close to the beach, and walking distance to all of the sights of San Sebastian. The staff were extremely helpful. I was feeling unwell the day after we arrived, and the lady at the Pension directed us to a very good medical centre. The staff also agreed to allow us to pick up our bags late in the evening (after we had checked out), due to us having to catch a late overnigh

The owners were considerate and helpful, allowing us to leave our bags there all day after we checked out as our flight was not leaving until the evening.   We booked a room with private bath room and stayed in a perfect sized room with three doors leading to balconies. The staff was very friendly, no limited English. They helped us out with great spots to visit and we wanted to stay on a couple more days but they were fully booked. The room had a small fridge, kettle and complimentary soaps. - Perfect location. Really friendly staff. Shared bathroom was not a problem as it isnt shared by many rooms and we were all around at different times. Nice little balcony. We had twin beds and they were comfy.   Javier who was the point of contact and person in charge at Pension was one of the highlights of the entire trip to San Sebastian. He was very helpful telling us exactly where to go to get a round and had a great sense of humor. We had a great stay at Pension and have already recommended a number of friends to stay there! We had the most beautiful walk across the bridge into old town everyday. The staff did EVERYTHING possible to make sure we were happy and comfortable. The rooms were nice and big and cozy. Coffee from the machine in the lounge was great and convenient. The value was outstanding. We will stay here when in San Sebastian:)))))

  Loved this pension! They upgraded us to a massive corner room which had a separate lounge area with tv and numerous little balconies. This pension is very clean and has great staff that are very very helpful and will even draw on a map all the tapas bars they regularly go to. It's close to the old town and 5 mins walk to the beach. Best value for money I have ever - It' s komfortable, small and lovely. Quite clean and very good equiped, stylish interior, qualty material. Parkinghouse is near, five minutes to walk. Special discounted voucher has been provided by the hotel. In next corner great bakeri and this block has bustling nightlife because of cafes and hambar. Staff is friendly!:)
