Originally the María Auxiliadora Convent, the Barceló Jerez hotel has been carefully restored and renovated into an impressive property displaying the fine architecture of the nineteenth century.

It is ideal for making the most of the town of Jerez, and it offers excellent food as well as being a great starting point for visiting all the wineries of the area or one of the many sporting events.

Good location, an excellent contemporary style bedroom with great shower facilities, friendly and helpful staff, and a great breakfast served in the former chapel - all round would recommend the hotel / chain to others. Outstanding hotel. Obviously a unique, historic property. It doesn't appear as intriguing from the outside, but inside it's very cool.Wow what a hotel, modern luxury.

There didn't appear to be an alarm clock anywhere (unless I missed it).some tourist information brochures should be available in the foyer. The roof terrace/bar they advertise does not exist yet (hotel has been open 2 years!). The breakfast was good but standard, and not worth the price being charged, better to go out to a local cafe. Slightly off-put by the 'open plan' bathroom effect! I would certainly reccomend this hotel to anyone seeking a strong contrast between historic exterior and modern interior.Parking. The door of the toilet is transparent - it is hard to find an estethic justification for that, dont' you thinf?. There was nothing I didn't like about this hotel. No private parking and not enough allocated parking for hotel guests at a local car park. No tea/coffee making facility in room. No dressing gown in room. Limited lounge/bar facilities.When I booked the room I asked for a room with double bed and nonsmoking. I was given a twin room and a smoking room. I changed rooms toa non smoking room but a room with double bed was not available.this wasa little disappointing. No tea/coffee making facilities in room, no complimentary water. Having to book 24hrs in advance for the restaurant and it requiring a minimum booking of ten was irritating in the extreme, they may as well not have one. Also when you wait for five minutes at the bar for service and walk away without staff attending is also not good. Very expensive for what it was during Feria (1st Week may) - poor privacy in bathroom (glass door, no lock!). Staff very arrogant; room was very nice but quite dirty and noisy due to ground floor.
