  We've spent about 8 weeks in St. Petersburg over the past 5 years as students, and our dorms were located in old Soviet apartment blocks; so this hotel was a welcomed change for our short visit back to Peter!! The hotel was very clean, which surprised me as most of St. Petersburg is on the dirtier side. I thought that aspect of the visit was excel... mitä ihmiset sanovat » lent. It also appeared that the rooms had been recently refurbished, with laminate wood flooring, an updated bathroom, and nice furnishings and wardro - A very correct hotel, with extremely large bar/ dining room complex and a pub open late. Excellent food in that pub (which is a rare thing to find in that town). Excellent coffee, and plenty of space to comfortably read a paper. Location is excellent - not right at the center with all its tourist traps but a little kickback at calm Vasilevsky Island. A very good place on the whole although on the expensive side.

  Our apartment was on Malaya Morskaya Street, 16, it was very clean and had all the house things you need, from bedsheets towels soups shampo, all kitchen needs, the internetnet was free of charge and very good connection, the location is 5 min walk to the hermitage and other tourist areas which was great.   Traditional hotel from old times but well modernized and maintained. Fairly comparable with western business hotels. Good location next to underground station. We were given a junior suite by price of standard twin due to booking situation and arrival at 19:30 so can't review normal room but suite was excellent.   The Anchikov has only a few rooms and the staff really treat all of their guests like a kings and queens. From the minute I arrived to the minute I left the staff did everything to make my stay a pleasurable one.   The receptionist of the hotel is super welcoming and helpful !! She's the nicest people I had met during my stay! She could speak fluent English and very friendly and willingly to offer you help ! The hotel is located within walking distance (for us 70-year olds) of Peterand Paul fortress and the Hermitage crossing two different pairs of bridges across the Neva in each case.
