  We stayed at the Heritage apartments rather than the main hotel. The apartment was much higher up the hill, and gave us glorious views over Queenstown , lake Wakatipu and the Remarkables from the balcony. All rooms had lake views. - God service. Friendly staff. Good advice on where to visit.

  The location was unbelievable, right in the middle of town with all the bars and restaurants just outside the door and the views were remarkable. Couldn't believe we were only paying $27nz a night. The people on the fvront counter were the owners and they were nothing short of brilliant, helpfull and fun to be with. Can't wait to get back there next year - I'm pretty fussy and I won't rate a place unless it goes beyond my expectation and this place did in every respect. Security is important when travelling alone and AVA does it all with style and ease. I've stayed in 4 star hotels that don't have the quite keyless entry doors with closers that don't allow the doors to slam or squeak yet still allow entry in the wee hours.It's the little things like quality loo paper, body/hair wash free in the showers, the beds, people, everything was excellent - Best place to meet new people...right next to tonnes of bars and night spots. Had friends staying at other local backpackers and after three days of noise in their 10-bed dorm they were begging to move in with us! AVA is the best of both worlds - all the party spots right outside the door, but we could still come back to peace and quiet and much needed sleep. Both our rooms had ensuites - so luxurious compared to other backpackers we'd stayed in. Best value in Queenstown! Incredible views too.

  This is a setting to die for. You really get the feeling that you are in a boutique hotel in Europe.We were eager to get back to the hotel everyday to sit on our balcony and drink in the views.We loved the big artworks and antique furnishings. Can't wait to go back to stay. Don't let the distance from Q town put you off. It's only a $20 taxi ride away - All staff were extremely accommodating and helpful. Staff were aware of who we were and which room we were in, providing a level of commitment to the guests.The hotel is perched on a breathtaking view of the river that no photo can do justice. After spending the day adventuring the Otago wineries, coming back to a reserved cinema room made the whole stay as if we were the only people around. And we weren't. Thank you again to the management and staff for making our stay a memory!

  Donald and Gillian were wonderful hosts, it almost felt like staying with friends! Breakfasts were really yummy too. Highly recommended B&B for couples. - The owners and staff are extremely welcoming and helpful.

  The apartment was very tastefully decorated, very clean, very good layout. It had a gorgeous view of the lake especially that we stayed on the lower level close to the lake so no obstruction from other buildings. There were beautiful flowers around the terrace and the scent was fabulous. The bedroom door opened to the living room and then you had a stunning view of the lake. The staff was - We stayed in an excellent one bedroom apartment with an amazing view. Spotlessly clean with a gas fireplace, heated bathroom floors and a Bose iPod player, it was total comfort. Owner welcomed us warmly and helped us in every possible way. Excellent place to stay in Queenstown- you can walk into town on the walking path in 25-30 minutes. A little pricey but worth it. Highly recommended.
