  Nikko Park Lodge Mountainside was a really cosy, quiet and convenient place to stay, not to mention really friendly. It was away from the main street in a beautiful wooded area and yet still only a 10 minute short jaunt down to the main station area (or there was a shuttle bus provided for people with less motivation than us!). I left my iPad on the train from Sendai, and they jumped into action, calling the local station, getting me the contact details in Tokyo Station. Loved the feel of the place, rather backpacker, but comfortable. Food was good, but not exotic. Room was a bit tight, but it was a budget option.   The best thing about this B&B is the relaxing bath with glass windows overlooking the river -this is not a real onsen, i.e., the water is not from a hot spring, but it is good. I also appreciated that the room had an ensuite bathroom+toilet, which is not always the case in Japanese B&Bs. It is just a 3 minute walk from the Kanmangafuchi Abyss/Bake Jizo that has a long line of small Jizo statues with t - Location is really good for the main sites and bus stops. I got a very useful custom made area map when checking in, with good explanation on what is where, tips for sightseeing and general. Very good. There is in-house hot spring bath, 2 private bathrooms. The breakfast is not too rich (basically toast, fruits and a boiled egg), but it was big enough to fill, and the lady who prepared it was really nice too. I still recommend it. Take the bus to see Kegan Fall, it is beautiful.

  It is marvelous small hotel in beautiful town called Nikkó. The owners - Sizuo and his wife Keiko are perfect, very kind and helpful people, they are very hospitable, they answer you at all your questions about interesting places. Everything was perfect at the hotel - traditional rooms, tatami floors, tea invitation.   The hotel is very close to Tobu Nikko Station, if you take Tobu line the hotel is just 5 mins walk from station. Food and convenient stores are available near hotel. Breakfast is very nice.
