  We were very surprised by this hotel! The location is great, just a 5 minute walk from Kyoto train station. From there you have access to the trains, busses and subway. The location was within walking distance to grocery stores, restaurants, temples, the Nishiki market and surrounding shopping streets/department stores, Gion, as well as Kyoto station (more great shopping!), and was also very close to lots of public transport. Most had good Engli - Solid value for the money, particularly for a solo or business traveler. Not a lot of frills when it comes to the rooms and restaurant, but the public bath and relaxation room, plus the professionalism of the staff, make it well worth it. It is a bit of a walk from neighborhoods that have a lot of eating and shopping options, but in exchange, it is quite while remaining central. Bicycle rental is convenient.
