  The hotel is nice and our room (two adults and two kids) was quite large. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We never ate at any of the hotel restaurants and so cannot comment. As with other Japan hotes they provide lots of amenities. All in all it was good choice and good value for money. The purpose of my vacation was to see the temples, see the Gion district, and dress up like a Geisha. She helped me to plan everything with the buses, trains, taxis, etc. She had maps for me in English that were extremely helpful. The hotel is centrally located near the main attractions of Kyoto making it ideal for my vacation.

  Nice and comfortable, very clean, quiet and a king_size breakfast. The breakfast is really worth the price, but don't book it in advance, you get discount vouchers at the reception counter! The Monterey-Hotels are all over Japan the best choice!   Excellent central location in Gion. The taxi driver from Kyoto station was not familiar with the hotel or its location. When drivers don't know a destination, they can locate it by calling the hotel so make sure you have the phone number handy.
