Superb location and accommodation, the home made cakes for breakfast, plenty of advice given on what to see locally, flexibility and friendliness on booking in later than we'd planned, the free car parking very close by, we all had a lovely stay. We hope to return during one of Carcassonne's many festivals. We loved the location and our "cottage" unit. It was so relaxing, roomy, and very nice. The patio area was nice as well. We loved the kitchen, floors, design, and the large windows that opened up to the patio.

A delightful place to stay, very relaxing, and the staff were wonderful and recommended lots of things to do in Carcassonne to us. I'd definitely stay there again. The room was spacious and well finished. Breakfast was outstanding and the host was friendly and gave us tips on places to visit and eat at. Very close to both old and 'new' town centres, so could walk everywhere. Lovely rooms with no noise. Excellent breakfast. Nice staff who were interested in Languedoc food and traditions and demonstrated that in the range of breakfast foods. Very good standard despite it is not a hotel. Very nicely designed room and breakfast was fantastic. charming atmosphere, helpful staff. Quirky interior. We are a rather young couple with a son at 2 years old. We stayed at Gîtes & Maison d'Hôtes La Maison Vieille for 5 days in the end of july 2013. We rented an apartment with enough room for 5 adults. The apartment was nice and clean with a trendy touch. The location was also very good in between the citadel and the city, so we only had a short walk to all sightseeing. The street we lived on also had some very nice restaurants. The apartment had a kitchen with refrigerator and some kitchen t. Traditional French decor of the rooms and house was very charming, Stand alone, exposed bathtubs very romantic Central location (5 mins walk to castle) Very hospitable and friendly host. Good concept. The formal house and the room in the court yard. Very safe. We found nothing to dislike. The description mentioned a diswasher and a washing machine so we assumed we were able to do laundry. However, when we asked, we were told to go into town to do laundry. That was a bummer. We were also told they could not process a credit card payment upon departure. That surprised us and we had to pay with our remaining cash on hand. It would have been nice to know ahead of time. No fan or air conditioning even though it was very hot. No room service. could have done with a chest of drawers. Two minor points would be the wi-fi signal was weak due to the fact we were on the top floor and no TV although didn't miss it. Nothing. Breakfast is good but not assorted. Nothing. No cleaning service into the room during our 3 night stay. Nothing. We were a little surprised that there was no cleaning included during our 5 days. We had to clean (with no cleaning equipment available) and take out the trash by ourselves. Breakfast was not included in the price. Breakfast could be better for the price (about 8 different types of sweet breads/ cakes/ muffins & conserve, one cheese platter and yoghurt, but no fresh fruit or anything hot apart from tea/coffee), not a good variety if health conscious! No coffee- making facilities in room Limited street parking near hotel. We had two suit cases and had to get them to the second floor through a dark nearrow staircase. My husband is 65. The light in the stairs did work. We did ask for a room on the ground floor but they said there was nothing available. The stools in the ckitchen were unstable not safe to sit on. The place was over priced. We were misled by the description as "cottage" - it was a 3 room apartment in a block, not an independent accommodation. Bedding was sparse as were kitchen facilities, staff did not seem interested in guests' wellbeing and comfort.
