The staff were really friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent. And the rooms were open and inviting. My new favorite place to stay in Melbourne.
It was a pleasant stay. The hotel is in an older building but the room was comfortable and the location to public transportation convenient (the tram to the city square area is outside the door). The continental breakfast was also excellent.

We have stayed at the Hatton before and will do so again. The staff are lovely, and very helpful. The hotel has a very quiet, peaceful atmosphere and the breakfast is fantastic!

Breakfast is delicious. Quiet location. Good layout in each room. Ability to upgrade when there's ability (for more $).
Breakfast was inconsistent-sometimes they ran out of certain items. Staff didn't always seem to know what was going on. I had to change rooms and the new room was empty, but they made me pack everything up and put it in their office until official check-in time, which was stupid.

This is an attractive and comfortable boutique hotel that makes an excellent base for visiting Melbourne. There is an easy tram connection to the CBD.The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the breakfasts outstanding.

Challenging parking
This is a wonderful hotel in a quiet residential neighbourhood. The hotel has its own bar, wonderful continental breakfasts with a wide variety of choices, the hallways are lined with chinese antiques, and the rooms are comfortable and both modern and full of character at the same time. I stayed in what was probably the smallest room in the hotel but found it ideal for all of my needs, including a good desk under the window for working.
Loved the welcoming and attentive, helpful yet relaxed service. Simple stylish decor. It is like going to stay in a lovely home but with privacy. Great location for transport and walking. A home away from home in Melbourne.

The room (#10) and ensuite were large and it was an added bonus having a microwave, fridge and tea/coffee making facilities. Breakfast was healthy, tasty and plentiful and the room it was held in was cozy and inviting. Location is excellent with a tram stop at the door but within walking distance of the CBD. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Would have liked some sort of a non slip mat on the bottom of the bathtub as when you stepped into it you stepped onto the curve of the back of the tub. If the glass shower screen was a foot shorter that would have been perfect.
The elegance of the building. Quiet and comfortable. Unique furniture and furnishings. It was like being in a country Manor House for the landed gentry. I loved the room where breakfast was served. It was also the bar and reception - how cool. Breakfast - fresh juice and coffee was delicious.

It is a bit of a walk into Melbourne centre, about 25 mins?, but manageable.

paint finish in rooms was bit sloppy, noise from room above, polished floors should all be same colour finish. Main room was dark, bathroom light finish

This is my third time staying at The Hatton and just love everything about it.
Unfortunatley our airconditioner broke but was quickly replaced with a heater so all good.Our milk wasn't replaced so ran out,otherwise all good.
interesting building with comfortable rooms and great atmosphere. Loved the front room for breakfast and drinks at night by the fire.The breakfast was exceptional in quality and taste and all the staff were friendly and helpful. Our whole experience was wonderful.

Lovely feel to the place, had lots of quirky details that helped make our stay special. The roof terrace is fantastic, a real gem.
our room was super clean and well equipped, but was very tiny. The size, although rather charming, did not make moving about too easy... Fine for a night, but any longer would be a bit of a pain.
The Hatton is an utterly charming boutique hotel which gets everything that matters about accommodation right: service, privacy, comfort, character & location. It's home, with a spritz of class, and as easy to slip on as a familiar pair of silk slippers.

Bed resembled a bouncing castle. It was stretching things to advertise parking on the website when there are four spaces for 20 rooms.
Free Wifi Breakfast Tram 8 to the city wsa very easy. Walk to trams to St Kilda was easy. Local restaurants were great Staff gave friendly advice Comfy bed and super warm quilt Room with a sink, crockery and cutlery

Room is spacious and clean. Location is good and with train to CBD.7-11 just around corner and some good coffee shop around.
Parking not guarantee so you need park on the street. Staff of 7-11 nearby is horrible. Train is not cheap so if you have many people, take a cab may be more valuable.
We had a quiet and spacious room. The complimentary (continental) breakfast offers a generous choice. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The hotel is located in a quiet neighbourhood and next to the botanical garden, which makes the walk to the city a very pleasant stroll. Lunch and dinner options are just around the corner, but with Toorak Rd within easy walking distance eating and drinking options are multiple. We preferred a 15 min walk to Chapel St. Have a last drink in the hotel on the roof top with a gorgeous view on dontown Melbourne! Very recommendable!

No pictures or mirrors on wall of Room 20 makes it feel a little stark - like a monk's bedroom! One nice artwork would really improve the ambience of a lovely quiet small room with a gorgeous urban outllok Beds should be pillowtops in this price range, my bed was very firm.
Great atmosphere, would be happy to make it my home!
