There is no negative thing i would mention.
The room was new and clean. Breakfest ok. Really good position of the hotel is just perfect (about 10min to the Town Hall)! The park place is small but all the guests found a place while we were there.
And finally yes, there are some homeless people arround the hotel, but we didn´t feel uncomfortable or

This hostel at 685 Ellis is amazing. It's like an European style hotel with updated modern facility, nice and quiet(I imagine the one on Powell street won't be this quiet). La limpieza, la ubicación y la atencion del personal - Muy céntrico. Está a un paso de Union Square, muy cerca de los trenes BART hacia el aeropuerto y tb de el resto de autobuses,así como del cable-car (turistico por excelencia). Es un hotel "antiguo" pero limpio.

It looks a bit run down on the outside, but inside the rooms have been renovated and are very nice indeed: meticulously clean, very comfortable. There was a fridge and a microwave in ours, very handy. Spotless bathroom. Free (ample) parking in SF is invaluable. Location is very good too, just a very short walk off the lively Union street, convenient for buses... Overall, definitely recommended, we'll stay there again if we're ever in the area.
