Palmers Barn B&B - Fotos
Lo que la gente dice
The location is perfect - only a few miles out of Tavistock but
completely rural and private. It is within less than an hour's drive
of Dartmoor, Bodmin Moor and many lovely seaside resorts. The views are
outstanding. The rooms are charming, well-equipped and very clean. The
breakfasts are so generous that you do not need any lunch! The hosts are
very welcoming, offering a cup of tea or a glass of wine (or two) at the
end of the day (at no extra charge) as well as hospitality and local
knowledg. todo comentarios »
Located in the most beautiful countryside, Palmers Barn provided the perfect setting for a relaxing holiday. The owners were extremely friendly and couldn't have been more helpful and thoughtful hosts.
The "Barn" was a very interesting and an unusual building to live in, and this added to the overall experience.
Located on the Cornwall/Devon border, Palmers Barn provided quick and easy access to many towns, as well as the wonderfully varied sites of Dartmoor - including the Prison! A particula.
Stayed for 5 nights and would have stayed longer if our room had been available. Lovely quiet location situated at the top of a "farm track" with rear views over the Tamar valley and Gunnislake. The room was clean and checked daily with toiletries etc. being replenished if necessary. A good choice of food for breakfast and the cooked breakfast was exceptionally good, the ingredients being sourced from local independent outlets. The owners greeted us with a warm welcome and were very friendly an.
Anne and David are excellent hosts, breakfast is whatever time you request and you can have anything you like. The room was lovely, if Anne saw us when we arrived back in the afternoon she would offer us a tray of coffee, even though we could make it ourselves in the room. We had lots of chats in the mornings, and they were always interested in where we were going. I would especially recommend taking the train from Gunnislake into Plymouth, the views are fabulous. We will definitely be using .
We stayed at Palmers Barn for our anniversary weekend. We were made to feel so welcome by David and Anne, they even gave us a card for our anniversary which was so lovely of them.
We stayed in the suite room and we were both so impressed with the standard of the room, everything is of such great quality the, from the sheets and towels even down to the matched you light the candles with!
The breakfast was exceptional with good quality produce.
We can not wait to return to Palmers Barn.
Thank .
Very friendly hosts, and a welcoming atmosphere. The room was small but beautifully fitted out with modern facilities. The En-suite was well equipped and cleverly designed with huge fluffy white towels. A very pretty white duvet cover graced a very comfortable bed.
The breakfast was well cooked, Ann and David were perfect hosts, on hand when needed but not 'over the top', and were happy to leave you in peace. We enjoyed our stay with them very much.
Ann and Dave, the owners, were outstandingly welcoming from the first moment we arrived and throughout our 2 day stay. Our accommodation was superb and breakfast was terrific - perfectly cooked and presented. The building is a very interesting and high quality restoration with long views over the hills and countryside. The welcome for our 2 aged dogs was remarkable and was the bonus on an unforgettably good stay. We shall visit again.
What a superb place. Truly warm hospitality, beautiful rooms (with extremely comfortable beds) and an absolutely delicious breakfast.
David and Anne could not have been more charming and helpful (even helping me steam my dress for a wedding at one point!).
The house is beautiful, extremely clean and set in some spectacular countryside (complete with resident goats). You certainly won't regret staying here.
We are a mother and adult daughter travelling together. Palmers was a genuine Bed and Breakfast. A warm welcome to a home with private facilities. Nothing fussy or flash but down to earth comfortable and clean. Amazing house, a converted and renovated pit pony barn.
Lovely english breakfast with a hot pot of tea.
Thank you David and Anne we had a wonderful time and would love to come back.
We were able to take the dog with us and had a private courtyard for him to be outside. Friendly owners who spoilt the dog with breakfast and treats.
Nice room, very high spec with nice touches, fluffy towels, toiletries, sweets, fridge in the room, close to good walks, and outdoor activities. Found a great local pub (Riverside Inn) dog friendly and great entertainment and owners.
The property itself has been lovingly restored from a pit ponies stable and has lovely views. The hosts were lovely and welcoming and very friendly. The breakfast was cooked superbly by David. The bedding and towels were pristine. A nearby pub was recommended for an evening meal, The Harvest Home, which served delicious food. Will definitely return when in the area again.
Lovely barn conversion done to a very high standard. Owners we very welcoming to my husband, myself and our dog allowing her free range of their beautiful garden, her own cooked breakfast every morning and complimentary Dog treats In our room. Breakfast was delicious using very good quality produce. Will definitely be booking up again.
The warmth of the welcome from David and Anne made it feel as though we
were staying with long lost friends - we couldn't have been made to
feel more welcome. The accommodation is clean, comfortable and homely -
great breakfast too! Palmers Barn is excellent value for money and we
would have no hesitation in recommending it to others.
Home from home, really warm welcome, comfortable room, plenty of storage space for clothes etc. Dog friendly with treats left for dog each day.Anne and David are really welcoming and nothing is to much trouble. David made a point of cooking a sausage each morning for our dog as a treat. We will be back in the not to distant future.
The room was lovely, large, brand new, spotlessly clean with a separate bathroom. Excellent breakfast with locally grown/made produce. The owners were extremely friendly & helpful. The linen & the elegant personal touches provided in the bedroom and dining room were worthy of a 4* hotel. Excellent value for money.
The hosts were very friendly and welcoming. They catered for all our needs in an individual way and had good recommendations on what to do and see in the region. The most enjoyable part of our stay was a joint barbecue with the hosts and the other guests on the terrace (nice for watching the sunset).
Very nice hosts, very warm welcome!! They even offered a ride for our little one on the lawn mower :) Feeding the animals was just an extra. The house and the rooms are nicely decorated and clean (could be improved under the bed). Well equipped tea set with gratis flapjack. Superb breakfast.
Nice quiet and picturesque location, close enough to Plymouth and Dartmoor activities.
Welcoming knowledgeable hosts, rather than owners, great breakfast with more than enough choice to satisfy anyone.
The best recommendation I can give is this... I'll be back in the New Year.
We enjoyed our stay at Palmers barn. The hosts were really friendly. They made us feel that we were staying at a friend's house. Although being in the countryside, the barn was easy to find which was useful as we arrived late and the hosts were so flexible in accommodating us.
Ann and David were the perfect hosts, attentive and super friendly. We were made to feel very welcome and more like friends than guests. Rooms are very nice with lovely features, loads of safe parking, good breakfast, free wifi and all for a great price. Highly recommended.
lovely place to stay, with good comfortable rooms and made to feel at home by the owners. the price for the room was very reasonable and made even better by the good breakfast, warm welcome, helpful advice for eating out, use of free wifi, and well equiped bedroom.
Easy to find but awayfrom the main road in its own well kept gardens & paddock with 'free range' donkeys, goats, ducks etc. Warm welcome from owners and a spacious & stylish room in beautifully restored old house and pit pony stables. Ample breakfast.
Friendly and welcoming, excellent facilities for walking and the dog was made to feel very welcome - love the special touch of dog treats and tennis ball in the room. I stayed in the suite which was ideal for a couple plus my four legged pal.
The place is amazing, beautiful countryside. The owners are very kind and friendly, everything was nice and clean, it was a pleasure to stay there. It was very short and we didn't have much time to enjoy the place, but we'll back for sure.
Ann & David are very friendly & make you feel welcome as soon as you arrive. We stayed in the suite which had everything we needed. Very quiet & peaceful. The fridge in the room was a big plus.
Lovely breakfast in the morning.
The barn conversion was of a very high standard, and we were made to feel very welcome, the hosts even shared a glass of wine with us sitting out enjoying the evening sunshine. The breakfast was very good, nothing was too much trouble.
David and Ann couldn't have been more welcoming and made one feel at home right away. WE liked the unfussy decor of the rooms and the general feel of the place. It is a small B & B but spotlessly clean and well managed.
David and Ann were perfect hosts. Great breakfast and the rooms were first class. The renovation to the property is first class and a credit to them both. We would stay here again and recommend it to our friends.
Very friendly and helpful owners/staff, picturesque setting, peaceful, very comfortable and clean, good location for the areas we wanted to visit.
We would stay there again but would check on the driveway first.
A beautiful home from home, very warm welcome, generosity of spirit from the owners and attention to detail.
Breakfast was perfect, and the location truly spectacular. Note : pet friendly (and friendly pets).
David and Anne were absolutely brilliant. I spent most of my working life staying in upmarket, impersonal hotels and it is a real joy to stay in quality B&B's like this where you are made so welcome.
Lovely BB ran by some amazing people. Really enjoyed our time there and wouldnt hesitate to go back. Our room was brilliant with everything thought of, bed extremely comfortable and a fantastic breakfast!.
Great breakfast and welcome.
Character property with interesting history. Pretty rooms.
Convenient spot for Dartmoor and Plymouth.
Looks like it would be a lot of fun in the summer with all the animals.
From a welcoming greeting to friendly service, nothing was too much trouble for the owners of this B&B. It was one of the best we have ever stayed at and we look forward to returning soon.
Anne and Dave wanted to do their best for you to make your stay happy.
The breakfasts were wonderful.
Although we didn't take our dog, it appeared to be a place where dogs would be welcome.
Very friendly and welcoming. Lovely environment and recommendations for places to eat were superb. Lovely breakfasts - and we are veggies and fussy. Good access to everywhere around.
The owners, David & Anne are excellent hosts and nothing was too much trouble. The excellent varied breakfast was cooked to order and the converted barn is beautifully fitted out.
Arrived on a dark and wet night but Hosts David and Ann were outside with umbrellas to welcome us on our second visit. Warm, comfortable, very well fed and will be happy to return.
Fabulous location, great hosts-very accommodating, pleasant+helpful. Beautiful scenery, wildlife to see, peaceful setting. Great breakfasts!
Great laid back break with lots to see.
Anne and David are absolutely wonderful hosts and extended us a very warm welcome. The barn is beautiful, the rooms homely and the home cooked breakfast is amazing.
Kind and warm hospitality. Felt relaxed the moment we checked in.David and Anne are so welcoming and made us relax the moment we stepped in.
Thank you.
The owners were lovely, made us feel very welcome. Breakfast was lovely, not over facing and very tasty. The rooms were finished to a high standard.
Lovely Anne and David made our UK trip perfect and the dogs were just cuties. Breakfast was superb and the coffee cleared my head after ciders. Thx.
Everything. David & Ann were the perfect hosts. Couldn't do enough for us. If back in Devon will definitely be going back to Palmers Barn!.
Great location, short drive to Tavistock and Gunnislake. Very hospitable owners and fun having the resident goats in the surrounding fields.
The couple who ran it were lovely and friendly. Room was very nice. Located beside the Tamar River walks area.
Great pub for dinner nearby.
I liked every thing there the acomadation, there staff every thing was existent will most defiantly stay hear and recommend it to othets.
Owners were super friendly and went out if their way to make you comfortable ... Very relaxed atmosphere and felt like a home from home.
Hosta very welcoming and friendly, made you feel very much at home. Breakfast was delicious, would definately stay here again.
Lovely hosts, great breakfast and fantastic location! Just need to go back in the summertime to enjoy better weather!.
Going home!.
There was nothing we disliked!.
Nothing.
The road sign name board would benefit from being a bit more visible, especially at night, we came back from an evening out quite late and although we found the illuminated sign it wasn't easy, perhaps a stronger bulb needed? Otherwise we couldn't fault Palmer's Barn B&B.
Leaving !!.
Room was a little on the small size with the dog, called a suite but really a nice room with outside space.
Faultless.
Can't think of anything we didn't like.
Needed a bit more light in the bathroom & the mattress was too lumpy for my liking. It is also a little far out of town which wasn't a problem for us because the calm & countryside made up for the few extra miles.
This is largely due to the English climate, weather at the time was really wet but air in the room was a bit stuffy. There was an aromatic candle in the room however which we lighted and haven't felt it at all after.
NB - This is a note not a dislike - there is a short track (80 metres-ish) from main road and low slung cars (MX5 driver here) need to take care in places.
Nothing.
there were no negatives!.
Nothing to dislike.
Nothing.
Nothing we didn't like, it really is a perfect place.
Nothing.
Nothing.
A bit hard to find off the main road. The room was fairly small though we were out most of the time.
Driveway leading to Palmers Barn. It is a well worn track with a very high centre. The can cause "grounding". The unworn centre is so high it can scrape the underside of ones car. A simple remedy would be to remove it.
That we had to leave and go home.
If you are very fussy you may find the track to house a little dusty.
Nothing really.
We were unable to stay longer in this get-away from it all lovely place!.
Ideally would like a bit more room space but house architecture obviously imposes limitations.
The comfortable stay was what I need. I relaxed and enjoyed myself. What can I say. You don't get many places for value for money.
Nothing.
Small touches like a bin in the bedroom and beds made during the day would have made this place perfect. However, it was a really reasonable and good value for money b&b.
It was a bit hard to find. Be prepared for a sharp turn if coming from Tavistock.
