Lovely comfortable rooms in a canal side location. Spacious en-suite with bath plus large separate shower. It was good to have an iron and Ironing board and hair dryer available. There was also a generous supply of tea , coffee and hot chocolate. The restaurant meals were very good and we enjoyed a pleasant tow path walk after our meal. We have been told by friends who live locally that the Sunday carvery is also very good.
The boatyard was spotless inside and out of the rooms.
The staff where so friendly and polite as you could be.
The rooms where set away from the mIn building which I thought was ideal for my needs to catch up on some work I had , in total peace.
The layout of the building and carparks where wonderfully set out with the cansl settings.
good sized rooms with massive bathrooms the breakfast cooked by sue was one of the best i have ever had will go back just for that, the restaraunt is excellent with very friendly staff and reasonable prices and although the bar and restaraunt are close to the rooms we were not disturbed by any noise at night will be going back.
Great location for my business trip to Preston. Very quiet even though very close to the M65. Wonderfull room with the Norths best shower !
Wonderfull position next to the Leed & Liverpool canal. Nice breakfast at a sensible price.
I look forward to staying again.
Excellent staff who take an interest.
Just brilliant.
Lovely renovated room, spacious and modern, friendly staff willing to help, we were given the okay to have our restaurant meal in our room given we have an 11month old baby sleeping in our room, this was very appreciated. Breakfast in the cafe was delicious and served hot, great friendly staff. Would highly recommend.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Excellent location next to the canal and with good walking in the immediate vicinity. Food was of a good standard, especially breakfast.
The room was large, clean and well equipped. It was also located in a separate block away from the pub so noise was not a problem.
Pub is good, rooms are ace, shower is cracking. Would be a great place to sit in the sun, right on the canal. Which was perfect for us as we were cycling the length of the Liverpool to Leeds canal. Staff we're really friendly. Breakfast was good too. Would definitely go back :-).
The room was clean, spacious and comfortable, the bathroom being particularly large and well equipped.
The bar and restaurant were welcoming and the menu good.
Breakfast was well cooked and there was a wide choice of food.
We would certainly recommend this hotel.
The hotel is perfectly sited for a stopover en route to the South or North. Lovely room super bathroom unfortunately there was a problem with the boiler in the morning so couldn't test the lovely shower. Great food and friendly staff superb value for money.
Dave, in particular. Nothing was too much trouble, and he even
anticipated correctly our order for breakfast on the second day. The
facilities were great, especially the number of electric sockets, as we
play golf and it is useful to charge golf batteries.
The boatyards staff were excellent very friendly and helpful and the service was great. The room was spacious and had everything you need. We had food in the pub that evening and the food was lovely. It was nice to sit outside next to the canal.
We had one of the most enjoyable breaks we have ever had. the staff were exceptionally friendly especially Susan in the breakfast bar. Would not hesitate to return and would definitely recommend to family and friends many thanks.
Excellent standard, great and helpful staff, lovely location by the canal, accommodation clean, food very good and my wife is a vegetarian, well catered for. Overall far better than expected. Car parking outside accommodation.
Considering you were so near a motorway it was in a very idyllic spot. Rooms were exceptionally comfortable and a great walk-in shower. Very friendly staff, food great value and you'd never leave hungry.
The welcome we received was superb. The beer was great and the history book in the room about the brewer Thwait was very interesting.
The food was good but nothing you would consider special.
Fantastic power shower! Helpful staff to sort any problems which
occurred. Spacious comfortable rooms. Generous breakfast. Beautiful
location with longboats and family of swans on canal.
Loved everything about it - the location was stunning, the bed was very comfy. The breakfast was amazing. staff very helpful, particularly Sue who served breakfast.
Beautiful location. We liked the way that the rooms were separate from the actual pub. Food was really nice and there was a good selection of beers on offer.
Huge rooms, huge beds and huge bathrooms. Breakfast was lovely so too was the coffee. The staff were all very friendly and we would certainly book again.
The room was good and facilities.
The food was excellent served on hot plates and the staff were very friendly. We hope to return for a longer stay.
The location by the canal was great. The room was the best we have stayed in for a long time and most of the staff were very friendly and helpfull.
Nice location by the canal. Staff very helpful and friendly, and Sue
puts on a nice breakfast. Good units and very clean and in good
condition.
The location was great, We only stayed one, night, I would have liked to stayed long. so I could have enjoyed the inn itself and the area.
Manager left contact details should there be any issues during the night, this in my opinion is an example of excellent customer service,.
its location is great, lovely canal walk, very impressed with the room, great en suite best shower ever!!.
Fabulous location, very relaxing, great food. Chalet number six was very spacious.
The staff are fantastic, particularly Dave, for whom nothing is too much trouble.
the bedroom & bathroom were very good and the English breakfast excellent.

the location.
same as my last visit,,,
the going home from here
is the only downfall I could say xx.
They need to make more Cheese pie as they ran out before I could order..it looked really nice :-).
Leaving lol
So quiet and peaceful.
bathroom fittings need a bit of diy but are functional the hot water was scalding people beware it is very hot!!.
No internet access in room.
Still miles better than the Premier Inn though !.
We didn't have any tea bags or sugar in the room and the mugs needed cleaning.
Had a long wait for dinner on first night (1.5 hours from sitting down to main course arriving) due to 'busy weekend'. In fairness we were warned about the delay before we ordered and the second night was fine.
Ordered food in time but they ran out of gas, we'd been cycling all day so was really hungry. The dep manager though was spot on in getting us a takeaway number for delivery. Nothing too major. These things can happen, the place is quite rural but thats the beauty of it.
Nothing.
Nothing.
Slight misunderstanding over the timing of breakfast on the first
morning but it was more than rectified the next day.
Some areas of the bathroom were a little tatty but this didn't spoil our stay. I would have preferred a little less cajun spice on my chips and maybe this could be offered in a separate container but neither of these very small points would stop me staying here again 5 star service at a three star price excellent!!!.
Requested double bed, two singles pushed together. Only a minor inconvenience.
Adjacent road seems to attract speeding cars, travelling in excess of the speed limit as it's literally sited just off the M65. Accommodation block is adjacent the roadway.
Nothing to dislike.
nothing to dislike.
Over an hour wait for evening meal after being ordered. When it did
arrive, it had been kept warm. Won't risk that again. Cleaner did
not clean toilet every day..... Essential!.
Ermmmmmmm!!!!!!! Nothing.
Although the food was good it took two hours to serve and complete the meal. By the time the main meal came it was too late to eat comfortably. Although we were not in a hurry - next time we will make a point of going earlier then 8 o'clock to have a meal.
The guy that cooked the breakfasts was late, and he can't cook eggs. When asked if the breakfast was ok, we said no, and got a shrug of the shoulders.
service at breakfast way too slow ended walking out.
Stay wasnt long enough!.
This time we had a wet room not a bath, but the compensation was that the room was a family room.
Only 1 bath towel & glass, the vent fan wouldn't switch off & the duvet barely covered the bed.
The real problem was that the hot tap in the bathroom scalded my hand, it was DANGEROUSLY hot& could seriously injure a child or senior citizen.
I would still recommend this place if they could just sort out these little problems.
Would have liked a bath towel, rather than a face towel in the bathroom.
No wifi in rooms!.
Very bad rain when we arrived and gutters were over flowing. This meant water dripping down our necks while opening the door to our accommodation.
Everything was lovely. Could do with an alternative to the pillows - they were like rock! But that's probably just me!.
The room hadn't been cleaned properly on our arrival. The carpet had small bits of glass on it as though a glass had been broken.
Two single beds pushed together to make a double - very uncomfortable.
nothing.
Nothing.
scampi dinner.people passing can look in room as there are no blinds .
Very uncomfortable bed.
