Lo que la gente dice
As soon as we arrived we met a wonderful member of staff on reception,
who was extremely polite and friendly. She had arranged for champagne
cooler and glasses to be left in the room for a special occasion even
though it was a last minute request. The room size was amazing. The bed
was so big and extremely comfortable (and I suffer from back pain
following a car accident). The breakfast in the morning was quickly
served after a speedy order was taken. Lots of options, cooked well and
filled us . todo comentarios »
From reading the confirmation email & previous reviews, we knew to
check in at the Arundel Hotel, which was on the way to the Ashley Hotel
from town in any case. From check-in to when we left, we found the staff
very friendly & courteous. The hotel itself was very nice, & the
room was very clean & roomy. We had a full English every morning
which was delicious, & the walk from the hotel to town was pleasant,
as we went along the river each time.
The room and bathroom was spotlessly clean and the bed was very
comfortable. The location was very handy for the centre of town which is
a 20 mins pleasant, leisurely stroll away. Good sized free car park and
breakfast was lovely. Good pub a stone's throw away called the Old
Spring has a log fire. Altogether very good value and better than some
more expensive but shabby town centre hotels.
There was a real friendly, homely atmosphere and the staff were extremely welcoming and helpful. The room was excellent in terms of its facilities, was extremely comfortable and the standard of cleanliness was first rate. It was very well placed for a pleasant walk alongside the river into the centre of the city. We recommend the hotel highly.
The room was large, comfortable and clean with a good shower room and flat screen TV. Tea, coffee and biscuits were well-replenished daily and breakfast was good. There was free parking and a good variety of pubs and places to eat nearby. The centre of Cambridge is not too far to walk, but buses stop almost outside.
== Location ==
Perfect for touring the university.
Accessibility: (+-) Decent enough. You should make sure to take busline N°1 when travelling via railway!
This is of no consequence if you arrive any differently.
== Facilities and Staff ==
+ Outstandingly charming.
+ Plug-In adapters available upon request.
Quiet room facing back. Delicious white table cloth cooked english
breakfast with variety. Vegetarian options. Clean room. Comfy bed.
Wireless internet free. Free car park. Located one block from river cam
and Jesus Green. Co-op grocery store across street. No front desk in
this building so more private.
A very comfortable experience at a lower price than many hotels in the city. Well worth a slightly longer walk into the centre (across Jesus Green, so not exactly a hardship). Breakfast was excellent. Absolutely no complaints and even the weather was better than forecast! Would definitely come again.
We reserved a twin room, but they only had a double room. We were then offered the family room at no extra cost, this was certainly nice! Separate bathroom and toilet, spacious bedroom with styled furniture. Overall, I was very satisfied with how the hotel treated us and we had a nice stay.
Extremely well maintained room, very clean, comfortable, generous size, good facilities and extras. Clever entrance system - card swipe so no need for human intervention.
Great location for a bracing walk into center of Cambridge. Nice period house liked the stained glass.
The room was very comfortable and well equipped. An excellent cooked breakfast was provided and the waiting staff were very friendly. Good car parking facilities (otherwise very expensive to park in the city), and a fairly short, very pleasant walk to the city centre.
Ashley Hotel is conveniently located and it is just about 15 mins walk to the city centre. Its room is spacious and room facilities is over our expectation. My 11 year old son regarded it the best accommodation during our 17-day trip in England.
Good location, free car parking, helpfulness of staff who let us keep one of the rooms on a bit longer so those who had run in the half marathon could shower and change free of charge. excellent breakfast we could not do justice to!.
Convenient for seeing Cambridge. A laundrette is down the street for our laundry as we were on a long trip. Also the Food and drink at the Fort St. George a block away on the Cam River was great. Parking is also good.
Although the reception is not always manned (there's a closed period
from about 11 to 5) the staff who were on duty were very friendly and
helpful. Room was spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent.
Clean comfortable room, very helpful and pleasant staff and very good breakfast. Well positioned to walk to river, historic town centre and bus stop right outside. This hotel was excellent value for money.
Delicious breakfast. Staff helpful and friendly. When we called attention to a clogged bathroom drain, we were told it would be taken care of that day. And it was!!!.
We only stayed for two nights so are not really in a position to offer
an indepth review. It was comfortable, warm and offered a hearty
breakfast. Off street parking.
Big spacious room and bed. Very comfortable. Very quiet. Good location by the river and easy to find footpaths into the city. I would definitely stay here again.
Clean, comfortable very spacious room and compact en-suite. 15 minute walk to city centre. Very comfy bed, good tea and coffee facilities. Friendly staff.
Good sized clean room, parking, a very pleasant walk along the canal to city centre. Lovely breakfast which was included in price. Love Cambridge!.
Once we had our key, everything was great, a lovely walk along the river to town, room, bathroom great, easy off street parking, breakfast good.
Very clean, good standard of furnishings, crocekery, excellent full English breakfast included, free intermet, very comfy bed & pillows.
The location was good. The breakfast was excellent!! The reception staff were lovely and helped us get a taxi when none were to be had.
Spotlessly clean, good english breakfast, very friendly and helpful staff, sufficient car parking and good bus service into the city.
Location, decor - traditional and nicely presented large well appointed room and excellent breakfast. Great parking behind hotel.
About 20 min walk into town but a lot cheaper than city hotels. Taxi from bus stop to hotel 5 pounds. Breakfast excellent.
Poximity to town and colleges.
Access and Parking.
Breakfast quick and fresh.
Generally a good basic product at a good price.
Size of family room. Excellent well-presented full English breakfast. Convenient location. Good gastro pub across the road.
The staff were pleasant, the room was spacious & the walk in to central Cambridge along the river Cam was beautiful.

Good standard of accommodation within walking distance of Cambridge Centre. Good, free car parking.

En suite really good-sized triple room. Spacious. Well presented. Delicious breakfast. Really good value for money.
The lay-out of the room and ist furniture. It was cozy and clean.

The hotel was in walking distance to the city centre and had a good choice of restaurants close by.
Breakfast was delicious - great variety and freshly cooked. Rooms were very comfortable and clean.
The room was comfortable and spacious. Staff were friendly and everything worked. Free internet.
excellent location for city and very comfortable beds and very quiet- will definitely stay again.

A low cost, low fuss hotel in Cambridge. Brilliant breakfast with
excellent Staff on hand.
Interesting building, good breakfasts, quiet yet convenient location, pleasant staff.
free parking, nice breakfast, good location for city center, excellent value for money.
That we were only there for 1 night.
Booking in is a bit of a faff. We couldn't find the Arundel for
booking in so eventually someone met us at the Ashley and all was well.
There was nothing which was not fully up to expectations and standard. The lack of a restaurant providing lunch or dinner, or the lack of a bar, does not detract from the experience, given the proximity to its 'sister' hotel and the local pub in the small road at the side of Ashley hotel.
It would be easier if you didn't have to check in at The Arundel Hotel and perhaps some fresh fruit at breakfast would be an improvement.
- Not our actual price range, but they made up for that.
- Nothing too negative. We went there by foot with our full luggage, which was a struggle. Had we taken the busline, it would have been perfect.
No ac but few places in uk do. Nice breeze from open windows on second
floor. Note there is no elevator in this bldg.
There was nothing we didn't like.
The location is a bit outside of the city, a good 15 minute walk away from the main sights. Luckily, the weather was nice to us, so this caused no inconveniences.
Distance from Arundel Hotel. Tatty area. Entrane hall rather with no human to greet you. Dated decore, fussy.
There was no explanation that this is a separate annex of another more expensive hotel, a 10 minute walk away, where you first had to check in.
slightly strange layout where the uppermost floors are reached by first going down a flight a stairs along two corridors and back up a long staircase. It was ok just a bit odd.
Chesterton Road is busy and so traffic noise is a problem. We had a room on the back of the hotel and so it did not affect us.
Whole hotel needs a bit of updating (but it's not awful). No air con
(but we were there in a heat wave).
A minor inconvenience having to check in at Arundel Hotel. Fortunately we'd seen this mentioned in a review. Please make this fact more prominent on the information page.
It wasn't a problem for us as I had read the reviews and so knew to check in at the Arundel House Hotel - but I can see how people can miss this information and get quite stressed out if you have had a long trip. Chesterton Road is quite a busy road.
Window was being fixed in our room when we arrived, we had to sit and wait in the hallway but maintenance people were very nice. Easy to hear other rooms movements and tv, but the hotel do warn of this as its an old building.
Arrived a day late due to the BIG STORM in the UK on the 27/10/13 which cancelled trains from London to Cambridge. No refund was offered but we arrived about 9am on our second booking day and requested we be allowed breakfast which they eventually agreed to.
Difficulty of getting key, you need to go to Arundel House to check in if before 4pm, or phone Arundel House to work something out. Otherwise good.
I arrived late and had to check in at their sister hotel 400 yards away.
The check in being at a different location. The carpets looked a bit old and worn but I believe that is in the process of being remedied.
On a main road but the double glazing was good enough to prevent any traffic noise from disturbing our night's sleep.
A heat wave in UK - no air conditioning unit or even a fan and location on a busy road made it too noisy to open the windows.
Checking into Arundal House and then walking to Hotel a big inconvenience but doable. As 60yo we found the stairs a bit of a challenge with luggage.
couldn't open windows because of secondary double glazing - but this did keep out road noise.
The stairs - we were right at the top of the house and the breakfast area is in the basement.
Check in is at Arundel so Ashley is basically an annexe, but its not far away.
Needs to update check-in procedures.
Could do with a bit of a clean.
Could have been cheaper...
Bit of a faff to check in 10mins down the road, but adequately advertised. Imagine allows them to keep their costs down. Could consider a key-drop in Ashley hotel for checking out.
Booking in at main hotel. Perhaps more advance information should be featured when looking on sites ( but acceptable if I had read more about this issue. Also ref, leaving key cards at Ashley , not as I did take it back to main unit.
en suite but limited space and only shower
very good English breakfast but I would have liked some fruit.
Even early breakfast had overcooked, dry bacon and hash browns on both mornings - obviously being kept warm and/or reheated.
I had no trouble with remote check in, but not ideal.
We did not like that the room was below street level, as you could not open the windows because of street traffic and what could come through the window. The room got quite hot during the night and there was on aircon or fan.
Shower room a bit small.
There is no reception - so you have to get your key from another hotel nearby. Not a great problem, though.
nothing.
The toilet could have been cleaner and the shower took a while to drain, it was blocked with hair.
Didn't realise that I had booked a room with a shower. Would have liked it to have had a bath.
Not many facilities (no reception, no bar, no restaurant) but it's not a big problem since you can walk 5 minutes to the sister hotel (Arundel) and use the facilities there.
Checking in at another Hotel is always a chore.
for £85 pound a night for 2 people with breakfast what is there not to like ??????.
