Lo que la gente dice
Before our arrival Ethna the owner contacted us by email, allowing us to check in earlier than the 3pm stated on their website.
The location is fantastic, easily accessible by car, with a reserved parking space included in the price of the room. It is set away from the main roads that run through Ambleside, meaning you have little to no vehicles passing during the day or night which is a bonus. The town centre is easily accessible from a few different paths and staircases that lead straight in. todo comentarios »
We hadn't stayed in a B and B before but this was one of the most wonderful experiences from start to end. Ethna welcomed us very warmly and made us feel at home throughout our whole stay. Ethna is very friendly, with a lovely sense of humour as well as being very knowledgeable and helpful about the breath-taking surrounding area.
We chose the traditional English breakfasts, including the delicious vegetarian option, which were always cooked to perfection by Nick. It's an excellent location as.
Friendly
Comfortable
Clean
Well presented
Fantastic breakfast
Quiet area, just a 5-10 minute walk from town so no problems getting to sleep
Great view from Loughrigg room which also has a nice bathroom with bath which is great for relaxing after a long day of walking (or drinking).
I'm generally not a fan of B&Bs so was pleasantly surprised as this place is fantastic. No dodgy dolls, awkward conversations or spooky paintings. No signs telling you off before you've brought your luggage in. J.
What a fabulous B&B. Barnes Fell is set just above Ambleside - only a couple of minutes' walk to the centre - in a peaceful, pretty location. Loughrigg room is highly recommended - it is beautifully decorated with a stunning view of the hills and mountains... an amazing view to wake up to!
Ethna, the owner, is also a lovely, friendly lady who makes you feel at home in an instant and is really helpful if you would like suggestions/recommendations on what to do/where to go.
Plenty of choice.
This is a wonderfully situated establishment with a very experienced and
wonderful owners who reall care from the moment you arrive until you
leave nothing is too much trouble, information is freely given on
request, breakfast is freshly cooked, situated in a lovely quiet
location, we arrived a little later than planned due to problems on the
m6 but that mattered not and on request where shown to a parking spot
then greeted and given as much information as we wanted regarding
Ambleside and surr.
An amazing place to stay. Ethna was the most superb hostess, making us feel at home the moment we walked in. Nick cooked a super breakfast, which set us up for a days walking. The room was extremely comfortable and welcoming, the little added touches were appreciated. Advice on where to go for the day and the evening was freely given and much appreciated. An extremely enjoyable break which recharged the batteries brilliantly. We will definitely return and recommend it to our friends. Thank you.
Ethna is a great host with a convivial attitude and very keen to ensure guests are made welcome. The breakfast is high quality, well cooked and presented and the room exceptionally clean and attractive. Ensuite facilities are excellent. In any event, you don't spend all day indoors and the experience was perfect for my needs. It's convenient for the town and lake being a short walk up the hill. The room was ready earlier than anticipated which was great because it meant we could park up and.
We stayed at Barnes Fell in July 2013. We loved everything about our three day stay. Our Hosts - Ethna and Nick - were simply superb. Nothing that was too much trouble and they are great people that know how to relate to their guests. Fantastic views from our (Loughrigg) room, great breakfasts that set you up for the day, and a comfortable room to come back to after a long day out. We could not speak highly enough about our stay. We would definitely recommend to others.
The staff where so friendly ..Good breakfast and it was also hot...wasn't to packed with people which was good for me...nice and very clean hotel... the location it was near to all the shop and lakes and what ever we wanted to do it was near to us, which was great...I am looking to be going back there again after Christmas ,that's how good it was.. and yes I would recommend the hotel to anyone.
Everything about barnes fell was Aplus and more. we were made so welcome by Ethna the owner, and when she found out it was my 60th birthday flowers and champagne appeared in our room. Thnkyou once again Ethna.
We liked the friendliness of hosts Ethna & Nick, nothing was too much trouble. Ethna was brilliant, she was very knowledgable of the local area suggesting manageable walks and local attractions which you could be interested in. As for Nick's breakfasts, they were fabulous. And thank you Ethna for surprising us with my wife's birthday card, lovely touch.

A comfortable and cozy B&B situated on a hilltop overlooking Ambleside village.
Scrumptious breakfast served by adorable hostess Ethna, who also gave us useful tips and info on what to do in the Lake District area.
Would highly recommend it and definitely return to stay.
The b and b was in a great lication, only two minutes from one of the best bars in ambleside. The room was clean and comfy and there was a kettle and hairdryer as well as a tv. The breakfast was great very high standard and the owners were very imformative.
Used Barnes fell as our base whilst our family group did the Great North Swim at Windermere. The B&B was superb and nothing was too much trouble for the owners. The accommodation was spotless, warm and comfortable. We would definitely use it again.
We were treated like 5 stars hotel guest. Their cleaness, breakfast and
friendlyness is superb. We will for sure will recommend to our Malaysia
friends & relatives & if we woulde return to Ambleside we will
choose Barnes Fell.
Quiet location away from any main roads. Ethna was great host with helpful information and suggestions, with Nick in charge of the wonderful breakfasts. The room was lovely with a good size ensuite. Would highly recommend.
Superb hospitality from Ethna, comfortable room with all mod-cons, great breakfast and beautiful surroundings all at an extremely affordable price. Highly recommended, as is a dinner at the family's restaurant down the road.
Ethna made us so welcome. Breakfasts by Nick were great too. Our room was comfortable and had everything we needed. It's just a short walk down the steps straight into the town, with some great views on the way.
The whole stay was perfect. lovely cooked breakfast, beautiful room (stayed in the Loughrigg) with wonderful views. Ethna made us feel very much at home, as soon as she greeted us.
Thanks Ethna, see you soon.
Really lovely stay. Ethna and Nick were incredible and made us feel very welcome. Rooms were beautiful and comfortable. Great location, parking space, and the best breakfast in the lakes.
We had a beautiful view of Ambleside from our room , and this was just one part of our lovely stay with Ethna at Barnes Fell.

We had a lovely 4 days in Barnes Fell in July 2013. Our room was comfortable and breakfasts superb.
Loved the owners, the 4 poster bed, the lovely breakfast, quiet location within Ambleside.
Everything. Lovely warm welcome. Fantastic breakfast. Great location. Will be back.
Wonderful friendly staff, fantastic breakfastset in a beautiful location.
very friendly staff, awesome view from our room, very clean and cosy room.
Excellent staff and facilities. The breakfast is great!.
Excellent breakfast
Quiet location
Free parking.
breakfast was excellent.
The breakfasts were very good.
Steep hill could cause problems for anyone with mobility problems.
Absolutely nothing!.
Although the room was quite small, everything needed was there. Parking is an issue in Ambleside generally and in high season this was no exception, although Ethna was extremely helpful when we arrived. One thing I would have appreciated would have been the offer of more coffee and toast at breakfast - having said that, I didn't ask and I am sure if I had, it wouldn't have been an issue.
Nothing.
N/A everything was perfect to suit me.
We didn't like haing to leave!!!.
Nothing, everything was superb.
Nothing!!.
Nothing.
Nothing.
A lounge would be good.
Having to leave...
Having to leave after only 2 nights !.
There wasn't anything we didn't like.
The walk from the town was up a hill which could be trying for elderly folk.
WIFI was difficult to connect to but it worked once you got there.
Going home!.
shower was not controllable.
Tiny room and ensuite. Very small. There were no dvd's as stated at letsbookhotel.com. No access to garden. Tiny TV.
