Everything was really really great - excellent service, good and diverse breakfast, very helpful and kind staff. We had a beautiful room on the ground floor with terrace, which was perfect for relaxation. The house is surrounded by greenery and in a calm neighbourhood, only a 10-minute walk from the Stellenbosch center. Yellow Lodge is perfect value for money, and is even prettier in reality than in the photos shown here.

Nice big rooms - the downstairs room have a small terrace so you can sit outside. The house has lovely wooden floors/victorian baths etc which give it character. Breakfast was simple but fresh. Ben was very very helpful responding to our every request very quickly and efficiently. This is a budget friendly option for staying in Stellenbosch. Next time I think I would stay somewhere closer to the restaurants in town.
Yellow Lodge is situated in a beautiful leafy street. The complex is clean and neat and the staff are just lovely. I absolutely loved my stay at the Yellow Lodge and would highly recommend it to anyone.
Room was spacious with a large bed, the bathroom was very large for a bathroom with a shower as well as free standing tub.
Guesthouse is close to the center. Place is clean and staff very accommodating. I can recommend it to anyone.
It was homely and pleasant. I would stay again.
The German owned lodge was only a short walk away from the city center. It is located in an old house with high ceilings and creaking floor boards. Also the interior decoration was partly pretty old so you felt a little bit like being put back into the first half of the last century. This combined with bright sandy tones on the walls gave it an interesting feeling.
big spacious room.
Good breakfast and clean room.
Parking is a big issue - there just is not enough and the street parking is full. When booking I got the impression that the lodge is walking distance to the centre of town - it is a bit far, especially at night. It is a bit noisy from the main road and the church clock striking every half an hour but on the second night I found a fan in the cupboard so could close the windows which was better.
Location just a bit too far out from the main dining area of Stellenbosch to walk, especially at night, but if you have a car it's less than a 10min drive so ideal.
creaky floorboards.
Compared to other similar places we have been in South Africa it was rather expensive. Maybe it was because Stellenbosch is one of the tourist hot spots. We asked for wine tasting in Stellenbosch, and were told there is nothing that could be reached on foot. However, we found out elsewhere, that there was a big wine cellar only five minutes walk away. Altogether, owners of other places were a lot more helpful in pointing out what to do / not do.
shower over bath, shower handle kept sliding down.
Inadequate parking and noise from other guests as well as a chiming clock in the neighbourhood.
The bed was tiny - and we were supposed to be in the "honeymoon suite". The whole place was a bit run down.
