Seems like this hotel is new so they're making discounts to attracts clients.
As for me the main advantages were:
1) less then $100 price
2) lightning-fast internet (no problems to upload/download hundreds of Mb)
3) smoking was allowed in my room (while there were no marks of previous smokers like smell, spots or bur

Without a doubt the best thing about this hotel is the location - it is situated right in the historic centre of St. Petersburg, all sights are very close - I managed to visit a lot in a very short time and didn't even have to use Russian public transport (which leaves a lot to be desired!!).

I was a roomy two-bedroom apartment in a classic building, with entry from inside the courtyard. All the facilities were there, including a full kitchen and a washing machine for laundry.
The neighbor was nice although it was a considerable walk to Metro.

The Anchikov has only a few rooms and the staff really treat all of their guests like a kings and queens. This is a really nice micro-hotel. Recently renovated and renovated well. Rooms like Nevsky Palace but 1/3rd the price! The room was nice, clean, LCD TV with sat. Bathroom was new, had quality European toiletries in the bathroom, water in the shower was pure and clean. Excellent breakfast included.

The hotel is situated very centrally at a walking distance from sights and metro stops. The interior is beautiful, the paintings in passages and rooms a nice touch. My single room was smallish but not at all claustrophobic. The bed was really comfortable with luxurious bedclothes.
