Cannot say enough good things about the place even though we only stayed 1 night.
Very clean, very spacious, very comfortable to live in. We were very sad to leave!
Wifi worked well, kitchen was modern and well equipped. Washing machine and dryer worked.
Quality place and I will definitely be recommending this to anyone coming to Kaikoura.

Austin Heights is the ideal place to stay in Kaikoura. It is located on an elevation outside the town, which can be reached by a quarter-hour walk down an attractive hillside path or a few minutes drive. Beautifully furnushed upstairs room with views over the town and mountains. A supremely comfortable bed. A pleasant, if hilly, walk down through fields to the beach and two restaurants. It was a little way out of town so a car would be required for further restaurants and shops.

Our stay at The Kaikoura Gateway Motor Lodge began with an easy check in at which time the owner upgraded us to a one bedroom free of charge. Nice!! Excellent staff... The owners were helpful and informative, and the accommodation was spacious and comfortable. It far exceeded the usual tourist motel accommodation in NZ. There was also a playground opposite in alarge park for the kids to expend energy.
Excellent accommodation, don't even consider anywhere else.

Park is handy to good facilities (Kaikoura shops, takeaways). Kaikoura scenery is SPECTACULAR. Loved seeing seals/pups. -

Enjoyed our stay, great value for money. We had a late check-in as we
drove from Nelson after work, someone was there waiting for us. Stayed
in a en-suite private room which was clean and tidy and a decent size.
Went swimming with dolphins at 5:00am, got a good nights sleep and left

Encounter. Staff even invited us back after the swim to use the communal
showers before heading off to Christchurch. Great stay would recommend. -
It has a nice, relaxing atmosphere, a beautiful garden and a terrace and the double rooms are really cosy and with nice garden views - and if you get close to the window, even sea views.
Take good care of the old cat lady! If she wants to go into the shower to drink, let her!
Go seal swimming while in Kaikoura, it's great!
