The friendliness of the owner and his sister put us at ease after a long flight and train ride. The archery demonstration was very interesting, and the recommendation for the sumo wrestler restaurant was great. Plus, it was really nice to get a ride of the base of the mountain where the monkey park is located.

Having spent 3 weeks travelling around Japan, my highlight of the trip was my 2 nights in Senshinkan Matsuya.
The owners were so helpful and friendly, picking me up from the train station, driving me to the monkey park (a great experience by the way) and dropping me back to the station the morning I left.
During my stay I was lucky enough to opt for a traditional Japanese breakfast and dinner which were both superb.
Shibu Onsen itself is a wonderful place with 9 public bath houses which are fun
