This is my favorite hotel so far during our trip in Japan. This is a
lodge in the mountains, so don't expect luxury (we had shared
bathrooms) or a traditional japanese ryokan-like hotel. That said, the
lodge was clean and the beds were comfortable. What made this place
special was the cozy atmosphere and beautiful location in the mountains.

Very neat, clean, professional and up-market hotel compared to our usual 'backpacker' lodgings. Most expensive accommodation we stayed in, but could not find any better - due to our late booking and its very central location a short walk from the station and a very short walk to the castle.

The hotel is very well located, a few steps away from Matsumoto castle, the tourism office and many restaurants.
Very clean and comfortable, the hotel has an onsen on site and offers free bicycle rental.
The staff is polite, helpful, and at ease in English.
Probably the best cost / value hotel that I have seen in Japan.

The staff couldn't have been friendlier. This Ryokan is a great authentic experience that I would highly recommend to anyone. It is reasonably priced as Ryokans go and feels like a little piece of Japenese luxury. We had an absolutely wonderful stay at this ryokan. The owners are
friendly and accommodating, and it really helped to have the maps
listing favorite places to eat and things to do. The location is good if
you want to see the castle, and take in an onsen at Asama. The Inn was
very clean, and our room was very comfortable. Our 8 year old loved
sleeping on the futon in our traditional room, and the ofuro was a great
cultural experience. Don't miss the delicious breakfast for a true
taste of Japan
