Incredibly friendly and and helpful staff.
This is a very cozy place to stay in Matsumoto. We were fetched promptly from train station. Our ryokan room was big enough for the five of us. The beds were comfortable. We had access to kitchen with complete facilities. Breakfast was very good and plenty. Free use of bikes was great! Place was near big grocery and surrounded by small restaurants with authentic japanese cuisine! We had a wonderful time !
Shared bathroom was not so clean.
The owner is well English speaking and helpful. Hotel offer detailed map for us with useful information. Clean and cozy. Strongly recommend! Anyway, we rent the car and have no problem to get to the ryokan but it's not located very near the train station, may not easy for someone else who ride on the train.
We had an absolutely wonderful stay at this ryokan. The owners are friendly and accommodating, and it really helped to have the maps listing favorite places to eat and things to do. The location is good if you want to see the castle, and take in an onsen at Asama. The Inn was very clean, and our room was very comfortable. Our 8 year old loved sleeping on the futon in our traditional room, and the ofuro was a great cultural experience. Don't miss the delicious breakfast for a true taste of Japan.
Seifuso is a very nice family run ryokan, near the attractive Asama Onsen area. The family takes care of their guests in a very helpful and personal way. It feels like being home.

Lovely ryokan, run by a very friendly couple who speak English. We chose the Western style breakfast which was very good. Free coffee available for guests. Bikes are free to hire and they will pick you up and return you to the station, so the fact it is a little out of town does not really matter. We walked to the castle in about 30 mins. There are restaurants within walking distance of the ryokan.
Everything is good.it's a good place that I will come back again if I come to this city .
The Staff were fantastic. Atsuko really looked after our family going above and beyond with excellent tips and even lifts to various hard to get to places, just fantastic service. They also arranged for us to have a private bath for the whole family rather than having to split the Onsen experience into Male and Female baths which just made things a lot easier with small children.
It was a little far from the main city, but well compensated for by excellent pickup service.

I lOVED this guest house, the owners and their daughter were so friendly and warn I ended up extending my stay for another night just because they made me feel so comfortable and relaxed. There was fully equiped kitchens just outside the rooms which was a pleasant surprise. While it is a little far from town to walk, there is free bikes which only take 5mins to ride to the centre. Alternatively there was a couple of restaurants and a great supermarket within 3-5mins walk from the ryokan. The rooms were decent size, comfy mattress with western style pillow, not a rice sack like some. Plenty of windows to enjoy the natural sun and views of the snow topped mountains. To top it off they provide you with their own hand drawn map of recommended sights, cafes and restaurants which was a unique touch I had not experienced at other place. The best value for money in Japan! I will be back, thank you so much for a memorable experience :)
The wifi in the rooms is very weak but its manageable. If it fails there is a high speed computer that works fantastically.
Great guys. Flexible, extremely friendly and helpful. Helped us catch last minute train in a way I should thank a million times. I like the spring there too. Great value stay.
Simply great! Family was helpful and friendly. Offered fantastic advice on food around the area. Free bikes, free pick up from train station. There was a mix up on my booking but it was quickly rectified and informed well in advance.

This is a terrific place to stay for English-speaking folks who want to experience a Japanese inn. Shared bath area, shared bathroom, but no problem. Great Breakfast. Excellent service, as you are picked up at the train station, and delivered back. Also given lots of local information by a young lady with excellent English. Rating: 10 out of 10
Great accommodation in this typical Japanese inn, the onsen was very nice, free bikes to get around the city, quiet area, activities offered.

Friendly and helpful. Great breakfasts. The castle was spectacular and really enjoyed the wood block art museum. Fun to get around on bicycles.
We stayed in the annex and found the areas outside of the bedrooms quite cold.
The hotel had charming family staff who were incredibly helpful. The pick-up and drop-off services were invaluable, especially because of the location. The location is out of the main mix, but Matsumoto is not so very kicking a town, so it really does not make a huge difference, whatever other correspondents may say.
