What we read in other comments was definitely true. The appartement was excellent and very clean and the hosts Maurizio and Cettina very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was really great, 5 jellies, fresh bread and Mortadella/prosciutto juices and Sicilian icecream (Granita)! Nicolosi is a cosy village to stay. Close to Etna and Catania. Overall we had a nice 5 day's stay at the hotel. The Island is still pretty and unspoilt and there are some small rocky beaches. Positive is the friendly staff and serving a good breakfast. Also positive is the location with sea view and a large swimming pool area. -

Turned out that renting an apartment at Case Don Ignazio in southern Sicily was an excellent idea. Located at the top of the hill, surrounded by lime and orange orchards, and olives groves at the downhills, with spectacular view over Ionian see on the left and baroque beauty Rosolini on the right. The hotel is a little 'designer' jewel, tucked away in a corner of the old town of Favara. We stayed in room 301 - the only room on the top floor, next to a wonderful sun terrace, and a really great spot to enjoy the open air. The room was great and the bathroom, with its double shower, an eye-opener. The Belmonte's restaurant is also top-notch: a little more expensive than an typical Italian venue, but also of a much higher standard.
