  We liked the hotel so much, that we could easily recommend it to our friends. It is very quite and green place, aproximately 10 minutes walk from the sea. The beach is great in Malia. The staff was very friendly and helpful.   Very attractive hotel/apartment block located midway between town and the beach, so quiet and yet convenient. Nice pool (though surprisingly cold after a long, hot summer) and outdoor breakfast/lunch area. Staff very friendly and helpful - they even upgraded us to a 2 bed apartment overlooking the pool at no extra cost - because it was available! ... lo que la gente dice » We understand that Malia can be pretty frenetic in mid summer, but Mid- September was just great and we loved the sandy beach and the Old Town - espec - Socrates is a lovely hotel. Very friendly owners, Eva and George. Absolutely perfect pool area, with comfortable sunbeds and a wonderful garden. We got clean towels every day and the room was perfectly cleaned. It was about 200 m to the bus stop (32) to Hersonissos and to the beach 200-250 M. The hotel is perfectly situated in the countryside quiet yet central. I would definitely go back. And the transfer service I great. (A family with 16 and 9 year old kids)

  Perfect location, close to the beach (there are two in different directions of the hotel) and not far from malia center with its shops and tavernas. The hotel is in quite a calm and relaxing place. Food in the surrounding tavernas was excellent with good service and friendly staff. Our host at Pyrgos could not have done enough for us. He was brilliant.
