  The staff was very helpful, the room was large, very comfortable and clean and they even provided with a temporary room to leave our luggage in and have a shower (after we checked out on the day of departure).   This is a delightful old hotel run by 2 octogenarian sisters who were born in it before it was expanded into a hotel. It was once an Austrian consulate and also a command center for the Nazis in World War II. The location is ideal on the coastal road northeast of town in the Halapa district. The substantial buffet breakfast takes place on the top floor with beautiful sea views. The room was clean - Doma is the kind of hotel where you can imagine your great-grandparents staying on their honeymoon. But don't be mistaken: despite its appearances the hotel is absolutely contemporary with a modern bathroom, flatscreen TVs, silent air-conditioners and free wifi in the lobby (spoilt travelers may want to have wifi in their room, though). Add to this the wonderful view of the sea and the walls of old Chania from our room, the cosy garden with a real fountain and the personalized service from owne
