I've travelled extensively throughout the Asia region during the last 18 years and recently spent 3 nights at Charming II on a visit to Hanoi. I can honestly say this is one of the best places I've stayed at. The rooms are spacious, nicely furnished and spotlessly clean, as are the towels and bedding. They provide good bathroom amenities, and the all-important air-conditioning works well. Breakfast is very good, served a la cart with a choice of Vietnamese and western cuisine. The staff are sim.
all reviews » In one word it would be Mary the most serene, gentle and most helpful young woman I have ever met. We were upgraded to 2 family rooms with balconey's for our first night here. We had just arrived in the old quarter of Hanoi and were pretty shell shocked. Very, very busy city in Vietnam and the old quarter just concentrated bedlam. Mary was just the person we need to calm our nerves. We stayed for 1 night then left our bags and did the 2 days 1 night Halong Bay tour organised by the hotel ( whic. The staff are warm, friendly and went out of their way to help us with any enquiries we had during our stay at the hotel. Breakfast staff are courteous, fast and efficient, and with a good selection of food, it was a fab start to the day. Linda, the front office manager did the hard yard for us and booked halong bay and sapa tours for me and my partner, from accomodation, transport and transfers, everything was arranged. We are back in Hanoi for one more day and have booked another night with c. Lovely clean room, friendly staff, convenient and efficient tour service. We organised a tour of Halong Bay through their recommended operator - a fantastic trip. They looked after our bags while we were away, and on our return gave us use of shower facilities, booked our taxi to the train station and sent a member of staff to carry bags and ensure we were safely on the train...all after checking out two days prior. All in all a great first experience of Vietnam, and one I would really recommen. The staff a Hanoi Charming 2 Hotel on Hang Ga Street in Hanoi went out of their way to accommodate my son and I as we stayed there! The room was clean, spacious with desktop computer and excellent Internet access, lovely air con, and wonderful breakfast downstairs! But mostly the staff remains as the reason I would stay there again, and definitely recommend Hanoi Charming 2 to other travelers who wish to stay in the Old Quarter of Hanoi. The staff were absolutely fantastic! Truly went above and beyond in every single way (it was our anniversary so they surprised us with balloons, flower petals on bed, wine, cake and upgraded us to the best room!) I can't speak highly enough of them. On top of that, breakfast was great, internet is free and fast, and location is excellent. We had 2 rooms, the first was excellent, the second on the 8th floor, was not as good - a crack in the bath, a couple of damaged tiles, shower a bit temperamental. But the room was still clean and comfortable. Not a thing. Couldn't fault a thing. Nothing, I'd happily stay again!!. There was nothing to dislike. Nothing. Nothing - perfect location, good rooms and helpful staff. crazy traffic outside the door - a problem throughout Hanoi and especially the Old Quarter. Nothing. There is nothing not to like about Charming 2. Sometimes the staff are a little over the top. This is probably not something negative for some people, but staff could be a bit too chatty and always lingered at the table when having breakfast. Felt a bit as if they were obligated to be overly friendly and at times too attentive, it was a bit uncomfortable. They are fantastic people and I think who ever manages the hotel should encourage them to be more natural around guests.
