I drove from Fort Worth and I booked my trip through bookin.com. I made a few mistakes when I booked on line. When I checked the day before I went to the hotel, lorie one of the staff members not in management informed me that I booked three rooms unstead two room. Lorie helped me and told me what to do so it could be fixed. She made sure that the money was transfer back into my account. I booked in the per season because I can't afford it in the season but I will go back as soon as the season.
all reviews » The room ac was cool. The fridge was cold. Our little patio was private and great for drying swimsuits. The beds were comfy. The beach was right there! Nice outdoor showers for rinsing off. The breakfast at Pirates was good and priced about what you'd pay for the same breakfast at ihop or someplace similar. It was quiet, clean, and safe. They are obviously growing and trying to keep up. The young girls at the front desk were polite and efficient, handling both guest check-in's and people callin. I liked that it was mostly families with children there so I didn't feel like my children were a nuisance. I liked how non-crowded the beach area was. I LOVED the price...very affordable. Room was very clean and housekeeping staff very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be coming back next year. This is the best place on Surfside Beach. The top floor has a deck that looks right out at the ocean. Each room has a side door and a private deck about 6' x 10'. Great outside deck at the resturant . Their standard rate is high but reasonable if you book far enough in advance through bookings.com. Location and design of hotel. Very tranquil, Pirates Alley Cafe Restaurant next door is a plus, easy access to beach, and beach combing for shells is a plus too. Great place to relax and soak in the ocean view and sun from several decks overlooking the gulf. The rooms where clean and the staff was very attentive. Had enough space in the room to put a portable crib for my toddler in the same room as the bed, which was great. Loved walking out onto the patio and looking at the ocean. Quiet,pretty beach just steps from hotel, un-crowded and not a commercial area. Showers outside to clean off sand. Room had a private balcony with lovely view. Public front porch area very nice and spacious with a great view. I enjoyed the comfort and the stay on the beach. It was very relaxing. The main reason I was there was for my sons wedding on Surfside. So my hotel allowed me an opportunity to visit Surfside. Otherwise had never been there. Comfortable beds, lots of pillows. Nice bath with sink outside bath. Big tv and fridge. Balcony. Ocean is close by, nice beach. Restaurants are close enough to walk to in a variety of price ranges. Liquor store a block away. I loved the outdoor balcony/veranda areas with table and chairs for relaxing with and ocean right there. Great place to have drinks and food. access to beach couldn't be better. Food available right there or close by. The best resort on the beach. The staff was very good. The view from the upper outside end deck toward the ocean was great. The free bacon and egg breakfast was great. The only resort on the beach with a restruant. The staff booked us in a lower room that worked for my elderly mother, with only a few steps to go up. Loved the view & being on the ocean. Room was comfy & liked the loveseat. It was a great visit. The facility was clean and the staff very helpful. The restaurant was nice to have close and we would perhaps try it again once the building is completed and we were given a unit on the top floor. The hotel was very clean, right on the beach, and provided all the necessary amenities you need at a beach, like showers to rinse sand and salt water off before going to your room. Everything about the hotel, the staff was more than willing to help with our needs & questions. The location being so close to the beach was awesome. Everything was great as far as the hotel goes. I guess the outdoor showers were a little hot...seems strange to complain about hot water, but it was too hot for a little kid. Be nice to have a hook or two to hang your towel while you rinsed off. The ice machine in our hall didn't work, and the soda machine was out of sodas. But none of that took away from the pleasantness of our stay. The taste of the drinking water, but staff gladly gave us more water bottles upon request. The rooms are new and the beds are good. The only thing I did not like is there is no place to sit down and relax in the rooms like an easy chair or small couch. The only thing you can do is prop pillows up on the bed. No fishing pier close to hotel, however there is a jetty a mile or so away from hotel. Had some issues with the tv but they were able to fix those. Couldn't get the pina colada at the restaurant and the food seemed overpriced for what you got. Service at restaurant was terrible. Waited 1/2 hour for order to be taken and there were very few customers besides us. Had to hunt down someone for condiments and refills,etc. (And interrupt employees gabfest) Did not eat there again. Rooms were a bit cramped for space with 2 adults and a child. Sink was in a rather awkward position to use. The room was a bit small. Elevator was not clearly marked for patron use. There was not enough parking. Construction is going on at present, Feb 2013, another new addition to the hotel. Only affects the new part of the hotel. Newest addition has no ice machine or coke machines. Restaurants are all beer/wine only. service in cafe was leasurely for afternoon snack lunch, howerver the breakfast service was horrible. Food both times was good. leaving!. The only issue was no bar in the bathtub as an older person. If they could put one in the lower two rooms, that'd be a plus, but not a big issue for a short stay. We had difficulty finding it because our gps took us to a different location first. Our unit was very noisy with what sounded like stomping above us. Also the building was in the process of expanding and the building noises bothered us. The Pirates Café food was good but the service could use improvement. We waited 20 minutes to order breakfast and no one ever took our order so we went some where else. As older couple with family we had problems getting down the last step down to the ocean. Would like to see possibly a smaller distance between the bottom steps and the sand. Also we where there over the forth of july and where not allowed to do any fire works, but down the road a couple miles fire works where allowed bad deal for children. I understand the law is the law saw a mother her children and a couple others receive tickets, local police just waiting. Room was small for 4 Water pressure was too low in shower Sheets weren't changed daily (sandy nights) Handicap ramp was on far side of the building from parking. Pirates Cove needed a little veggie with their meals, like coleslaw for example. The food was very good however. The restaurant was good in the evening, but was terrible in the morning. I could not recommend it. nothing I didn't like. Noise from the 3rd floor (walking, jumping and running) at 1 AM was too much so we talked to them and they did not quiet down until 3 am. The next night was better. There should be something in the floors to deaden the sound. I would take the 3rd floor if I were to stay again. We had a few roaches visit during our stay. Not a lot to do in the town and the bar at the resort was closed. This is a small thing: but the bedside table lamp did not work. can hear other loud guests through wall and balcony, prices of food in restaurant to high!!. Noisy neighbors, no rugs in room!!. Food is very basic, no onto supplied re facilities,no phone in room. Too noisy at night,will not return for that reason. Cafe staff not as friendly. A closet would be nice, and printed instructions for operation of the TV. Cafe was extremely slow regarding serving food. Went twice to eat and will not go again. the room didnt have a microwave and the water was yellow. 3rd floor room. No elivator. Waited an over an hour to get breakfast at the hotel and finally left to find someplace that could manage sausage and eggs in under 60 minutes...very upsetting to sit there with 2 kids in the sun. We could hear the couple next door too clearly? Yep , several times. Cleaning staff's attention to detail. Excrement left in toilet and vanity mirror streaked in slimy film upon arrival. There was construction the whole weekend so it wasnt a very relaxing vacation. Wgen we talked to the staff about it (because we had not been notified of construction) they did not seem to care. Loud tenants upstairs,. Construction.
