Staying at shangri la is probably the best so far. The necessities are well handled and customer service is just brilliant. Like any other shangri la around the world, this branch also offers the same quality. Obviously there are many variations on the layout, service and sizes. But that didn't bother us. None to complain so far. Brilliant and friendly customer service. We came with our room upgraded. Amazing view of santa monica pier, spacious room complete with a kitchenette. Also, i used the parking space for shangrila. The service there is brilliant. Althought its a bit expensive than normal parking rates, it keeps your car safe.
all reviews » Beautiful deco hotel in a great location over the road from the beach. We were upgraded to a sea view room on arrival. Staff were so friendly and helpful. Gorgeous pool area with cabanas, fire pits etc. Great roof top bar to watch the sunset from. Marble top bath big enough to swim in!! Huge comfy bed. The ambience of this hotel is amazing. It is a beuatiful Art deco hotel. The staff make you feel very welcome and are very helpful. We had an ocean view room with views to Santa Monica pier. It is close to the promenade and great shopping. Fantastic location on the seafront - adjacent to hundreds of shops and restaurants. Helpful and friendly staff. Smart Art Deco-design rooms. Cleanliness and attention to detail. Perfect for a birthday treat or romantic break. location ,on seashore just cross avenue ,rooms having nice view,we when booking we asked for sea view and was absolutely respected so we appreciated ,nice swimming pool ,clean room but no coffee maker in room. The staff were excellent, we really appreciated their care and support. The location was perfect to enjoy the beach side of LA, eating, and shopping. Beautiful art deco hotel, great scene for sunsets, etc. This is truly a perfect hotel in every way. There are no negative aspects to report. Stay Here. upgraded to a suite upon arrival, was amazing. staff was very help full car service from airport was great used the driver for a few days totally worth it. gym is awesome as well. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. Checking in and out was a breeze and I was wonderfully surprised to find out that my room had been upgraded to a suite for free. Very comfortable room, great view of the ocean. We were upgraded to a room with a veranda - a bit of a shame the bar customers lean over the railings above us and look down. I would like to comment on the help and friendly ness of Chamien on the front desk. She helped us out with a situation with our car hire and we really appreciated her help. Location on the beach, and the view from the rooftop bar. The Art Deco styling made it a stand-out relative to the normal "could be anywhere" chain hotel. But i suppose staying in wouldnt be much of a problem if you lock your rooms properly. Room, although very nice, felt a little clinical-had hardwood flooring and no warm colours at all. Some road noise with windows open. Nothing at all. hotel had a loudly party at night such a weeding but no apology to hotel guests ,lucky stop around midnight. The internet was broken the entire stay, could not work, 35$ per day to park a car, pillows felt old and worn, some parts of the hotel needed a better cleaning, seems like they have a lot of parties there. Funny thing, the water is hard, tough to wash off soap. i have nothing negative to say about my stay here. No free coffee in the room for the morning like most hotels only a coffee maker. No guest services book in the room informing of what services I could find and use inside the hotel. Some minor repairs had been carried out in our room prior to our arrival - surprised the plaster residue on the floor from the drill had not been cleaned up. My stay was fine (apart from a glitch with the bill on check-out, which was quickly resolved), but i would make a couple of general observations: Standard room would be cramped for a couple (ok for a solo traveller). Having the shower inside a high-sided bathtub would also be difficult / dangerous for older travellers. Nothing! It was all good!. dim lighting inside the rooms, needed a bit more lighting couldn't see well. Nothing!. Lobby restaurant food really bad valet parking fee too high(around 40 usd ). Limited restaurant menu. We thought the Room rates were very high as compared with an equivalent hotel which we stayed at in San Diego. (This may be because prices are quite high in Santa Monica?). Hotel décor was also rather dark in restrooms and the bar area. The shower leaked into the bedroom and my clothes on the floor were wet as a result. Looks like an issue that's been there awhile from the floorboard stains. Absolutely nothing, it was amazing!!. The bathtub was very high and deep, the shower curtain doesn't hold the water in, the bathroom floor was completely wet after showering. It is kind of dangerous. Didn't see the sun during our stay at all. coffee maker but no coffee! I thought that was very odd. Only concern was with security, as a female traveling alone, anyone could get direct access to the hotel rooms from the street. Wifi spotty at best in room. Paying extra for parking. Nothing. I had some issues with my WiFi but it seemed to be just where my room was located, my friends had no issues at all. It was fairly expensive. Noisy. Low comfort high cost. Not a good price/benefits relation. Nothing. no coffee maker in the room. loud partys. The rooms are very small and the when we booked through you it said a king bed or a queen bed. In our opinion it will always be a queen bed. I had to ask to switch rooms which they graciously did. Also, only way to get ice is through room service and there is no way to get bottled water or soft drinks except through room service. Parking was expensive. Tub and shower in bathroom was very hard to get into. Almost slipped while trying to climb in. Lack of closet space. Restaurant staff has to me faster feesback for get a seat n orders also food need higher standard. That letsbookhotel.com failed to notify the hotel of my reservation. Some of the staff were great but most seemed uninterested. 1)Garage: 34 usd day!! 2)bar on the roof too busy and open to externals, kind of booze loud club, drunk youngsters take the place from early afternoon 3) bed side carpet heavily stained. Very impractical room design - * only room lights are bedside wall lamps - which turn on and off together no way to read and have the other person sleep. *food tray was placed on top of bedside mini-bar so it had to be moved to put bedside items (glasses, etc.)on the top Also no place to set things in room or bathroom, except on edge of tub. The shower design was not the best, couldn't keep the floors from getting soaked. Traffic noise on first floor.
