The staff was friendly and very helpful. We needed to get some business completed and they were very accommodating. The historic hotel is beautiful. We especially liked the stained glass windows on the first floor and the beautiful grounds with the fountain and pool. Our room was spacious and had a wonderful view of the mountains. The breakfast buffet was very good and very reasonable. The Inn had a charming history and "old California" atmosphere. The staff was very helpful, the room was clean and had a refrigerator and coffee maker, there was a very nice restaurant onsite, which I enjoy when traveling alone. It was a pleasant experience in general. The bed was very comfortable and the room very quiet.
all reviews » Great hotel with lots of historical items inside. Very comfortable beds! I slept like a child. Perfect staff - found a quite room for me and helped with orientation in the hotel (it's a bit tricky at the first time). Very nice garden! And delicious dinner in the restaurant inside. Just loved the history that has been preserved here and the beautiful gardens. Room was in newer tower wing--very spacious. Bed super comfortable. Felt like I had the place to myself. Garden Restaurant service was stellar and menu fantastic. I can't wait to go back. The room was beautiful and comofortable. Wine bar was amazing! They had a great selection and very friendly staff. Overall it was the perfect place for us to stay. This is a beautifully updated period hotel that just lets you feel as though you went back in time to the days of true leisure. Clean, comfortable and good food. You hotel is centrally located, has great history, and comfortable rooms. I also appreciate the restaurants that are available within walking distance. They did not have our reservations but accommodated us anyway. I didn't bring res. no. with me so they could not find it. I loved how the room was spacious and affordable. That part of town seemed pretty run down and there were not many nice shops or drugstores near by. The lovely, corner windows which I loved by day, did not have curtains that would close all the way around at night. Nothing. The sunday buffet left something to be desired. (Don't waste your money). We had a problem with our room, in that the staff confused our reservations with other groups with the same last names (we were there for a memorial). We got it sorted out, but not before we were put in an already occupied room. That level of mistake (where we are given keys to a strangers room) should have been responded to with a higher level of omg, and not just putting us in the room we should have been in. Meal vouchers, drink vouchers, that kind of thing. The service for breakfast was very slow. I wanted to get on with my day and it took about 40 minutes to get my omelette. The wine choices were poor. They told us they about to change so we were unlucky. having to leave. Noisy. Smell of wet or fresh paint. There was a bit of a funky smell in the lobby/reception area. One morning the lights in the parking garage were out. On another morning, the lights in the garage went out after I entered. Not having any food available after 9 pm was surprising. I walked in to the bar, moments after 9 pm, and people were being served food, but was told the kitchen was closed. Could be cleaner in some places: windows in our room, pool with a lot of leafs from the garden,... room a bit small and not very sunny. The room assigned us was all the way at the end of the first floor, and outside our windows was the corner of two busy streets, so we were not happy with the traffic noise. The bathtub refused to fill, so my wife couldn't take a bath,and the coffee maker was broken, so we couldn't have coffee. The hallways are long and unmarked in some areas so you can lost easily. They didn't give me the room I booked online. When I told them that I was given the wrong room, they said they had me down as having a child so instead of a queen bed, I was igiven a room with 2 twins! They apologized but when I entered the second room, it looked like a double bed... It certainly was not a queen size bed. Booked through letsbookhotel.com then called hotel to confirm my aaa rate. Upon checking in I was told they could not honor the aaa rate because I booked through a 3rd party. They had me because I was traveling with a group of friends. I needed a room. Smell of rooms,very old,needs a facelift.
