The motel has been recently upgraded by new owners. The beds and 100% cotton linens were fantastic. Each room has a little different decor. It is as if the travelers needs were thought of first: 4 bed pillows; layers of bed covers; plates, silverware, corkscrew, toaster, kitchen towels and glassware for the micro/fridge area, lots of fluffy towels; wi-fi, and flat screen. Staff and owner were attentive and friendly . Great to be away from the chains. Stayed 3 nites and did not need regular maid.

Hotel is from 1947 so don't expect modern baths etc. tho Wi-Fi was good, expect the charm of a well maintained hotel from an era long past. Great stay, will stay again. The beds were extremely comfortable and the rooms have everything I needed. Plenty of coffee and a full size coffee maker, microwave, mini fridge,a/c, beautiful mountain view. Super clean accommodations and friendly helpful staff. Great for a budget motel! It was a really cute motel. The room was clean, decor was funky-fun, and beds comfy. We had everything we needed. Seemed perfect for our needs and happy to find a such nice place for the price. We liked the price. We were traveling through on a fishing trip and needed a room for the night. We were taken care of and everything was good. We would recommend this hotel and plan on staying here in the future. The 2-queen-bed room was spacious and very clean. Nice TV, and super comfortable mattress. Convenient location to highway and town. Quiet rooms, updated, friendly and attentive owner. Beds were comfortable with lots of pillows. Very clean and friendly staff. The Mountain Motel was clean, plenty of coffee etc and beds were comfortable. Free wi-if was a plus. If visiting Salida again would rather stay in more central location rather than. Nothing and we can be critical!. Bathroom was tiny and old fashioned but clean and just fine for the $$$. N/A. Parking was not plentiful or well marked, but there are only a few rooms. No breakfast, but we hate motel breakfasts anyhow. Seems to be a minimally staffed operation, but didn't need anything once checked in. No one was available at the office when we arrived at 3 p.m. Eventually the handyman was able to get us into our reserved room. No coffee packets or dryer in the room. Later talked to the new owner, who was friendly and concerned about the above. Entry from and exit to Route 50 could have been better marked. Could not open windows, shower would not turn off completely. Didn't see any staff. Had to telephone a cell phone when we arrived to get access to room and again when we left. No opportunity to ask about local facilities, places to eat etc. Had to leave payment under the closed office door. Not good.
