I had read many reviews that had me quite nervous about what condition I would find the hotel in. We had stayed there years ago when it was new and loved it. We found our room to be clean and nice with a kitchen area and a flat screen tv. We were very pleased with the cleanliness and the amenities. Everything we needed was there. The staff were very nice. We had family come and stay at the hotel for a couple days. They got a room without a kitchen and a poor view. With one telephone call downst.
all reviews » Had supurb weather for late October and walked the beach/boardwalk for miles every day. We LOVED being RIGHT on the boardwalk but far enough away from the 'kid stuff' so it was more peaceful. The balcony was large and comfortable and the room was HUGE. Bath was your average hotel variety but the towels were plush and soft. The kitchenette was an added bonus to be sure but bring paper towels and plates. Hotel was very clean and comfortable, Breakfast in 6th fl restaurant was awesome! The staff was friendly and helpful. Stayed on 5th floor a little noisey above hearing tables being moved around etc. but didnt bother us. Great location on boardwalk and a great view from our balcony and laying in bed waking up to view of ocean and we had an oceanview not oceanfront!. I loved the location; at check in we were given the choice of three rooms and got more than expected; stunning views; beautiful hotel; awesome breakfast; love that they have multiple stores in the hotel especially a 24/7 cafe; loved the parking garage convenience; felt like a Hilton grand entrance for less money; views were of ocean and bay which I loved. Overall my experience was a comfortable one - there was a little bit of wear in general thru-out the establishment but this is to be expected as upgrades cannot take place but every 10-15 years,,, I did have a new flat screen TV - but you had to figure out the programs by surfing remote - no big deal -Got a decent off-season rate !. The room was beautiful, we enjoyed the balcony with the Ocean View. The convenience of having a microwave, sink and coffee pot in the room. I thought I left my jewelry in the room after I checked out and the staff at the front desk graciously gave me the key back to check, here I left it in another bag in the car. I loved the Grand Hotel, will stay again. Price was good, reservation desk very friendly and helpful. When we first got in the room the toilet backed up I called, someone was there in minutes. We arrived early and was able to get right in our room. excellent view. Room 510. There was nothing I didn't like. Very good value.. Needed handicapped accessible to boardwalk and this was perfect! Oceanfront view fabulous. Room spacious and roomy with everything needed for my wheelchair bound mom... Even had a shower stool available in wide roomy bathroom. We had everything we needed for a great wkend!. The view was beautiful. We were able to see the ocean, bay, and boardwalk. The room was exceptionally clean and the staff very friendly and helpful. We were a little skeptical after reading some not so favorable reviews but were pleasantly surprised at how much we enjoyed the hotel. The ocean view that we had was outstanding. All of the staff was very warm and friendly. April, the desk clerk was very kind and helpful about the best place to eat in O/C and where to go listen to some good jazz music. Thanks April for making my wife's birthday a big success. I loved my stay at the Grand Hotel. Everyone was super friendly, it was exceptionally clean, the room was beautiful, everything and anything I wanted was there for the asking. Great view of sunset from mezzanine terrace pool. plenty of shops and eats in and around hotel. Room and bath very clean. Game room for the kids, nice pool and sauna. Definitely coming back!. I enjoyed my stay.The room was large with a balcony and a great view of the ocean. The Grand is right on the beach which I loved. There is an indoor and outdoor pool, restaurant and shops right outside the lobby of the hotel. Great location on the boardwalk with direct beach access. No smoking in the hotel and balcony is great, just need to eliminate the smoking area by the entrance. It stinks up the area when entering and exiting. We loved the hospitality of the staff, it was out of this world!!! We went there on our honeymoon and they treated us like royalty, I would definitely recommend it to everyone. no question, we give it 5 stars!!!. The hotel offered nice areas of relaxing for both adults and children. Also a nice restaurant but not open fully. Nice pools and a great coffee/bakery shop (just out of donuts a lot). Location was really nice. Thank you so very much for upgrading our room on Mother's day to Ocean Front. The view was simply beautiful and couldn't ask for a better view. We enjoyed our stay even though the weather wasn't good. Very lovely facility! Everything you need is right there! Walk right out the door and you are in the boardwalk and beach! I would have liked to seen a hot tub either by the indoor or outdoor pool. Every one qand every thing was outstanding. We did a spa treatment Sunday and was the best massage ever. Hats off to the desk personel, bartenders and cafe ladies, but the spa was the best. I liked everything about the hotel, especially the convenience of coffee and food in the hotel, very courteous staff, very efficient check in and out.....very big comfortable room..... The location was terrific, right on the boardwalk but not in a busy spot. Very relaxing and calming. The beach view room was exactly what we wanted for early morning sunrise watching. this hotel is very clean, great location to places to see and things too do, and for peace and quite its at the best location on the boardwalk, you can do no wrong staying here. The room was sooo quiet. It was awesome! Beds were comfy. Liked having the little efficiency kitchen. Love being on the boardwalk but on the quiet end of the boardwalk. Location was great! The room was nice and beds were comfortable. My only complaint would be our door to the balcony was fogged and hard to open and close. Also there was no exhaust fan in the bathroom. These two things were not enough for us to say we had any complaints. They were minor. The sea gulls were absolute stalkers. If you opened your slider to walk out to the balcony and ANYONE IN THE ROOM had food in their hands, the gulls would fly all the way from the water's edge in seconds and try to get into the room. The interior was a little in need of maintenance, some signs of mold on ceiling/wall. Most is understandable being right on the ocean. Alarm Clock was a pain to set late at night - had to hold buttons just right at same time - and the seal on the sliding door was breached leaving one whole side salt fogged - you couldn't see thru it. The air and heating unit was loud when it came on, would like to have had the noise of a continuous fan running at night. Not a thing. There was nothing I didn't like !!. Hotel should make sure doors between rooms are locked before check jn. when i checked in, i opened what i thought was the closet. I found another door slightly ajar and peeked inside to see the guest in the next room! Oops!. I was given a handicap accessible room although I indicated no handicap room. Old outdated rooms, bathroom, old mattress. Handicap accessible is not, can not roll into a shower, high step into the bathtub, no vanity counter space. It was an inconvenience for us when electric was out as husband can not walk but alittle at a time and I have asthma and having to take the steps was really hard on us. Also just to comment on one other area, the bathrooms need alittle more attention. nothing. The only thing that was off setting was the cleanliness of the room. On arrival there was visable dust on the walls as well as spider webs in the corners of the ceiling. Also dead moths on the floor around the base of both beds. No vacuuming during our stay. nothing not too like. Nothing really. The cleaning crew didn't do our room under after 4, which I understand they needed to get the empty rooms ready for incoming guests. Room was right next to freight elevator door, cleaning staff was loud & distracting. The Patio door was cloudy, the bathroom a little small,the fitted sheets did not fit the beds. I would suggest an update of the curtains and lamps as they were showing some wear. Also...those speed bumps out front were a hazard to me...maybe my fault but I tripped over one. No major injuries but still it seemed they weren't needed right outside the front lobby. There was really nothing negative that i can say about our visit. Breakfast at the hotel restaurant was the worst I've had. Sunday morning 9-8-13. The waiter was clueless. Never checked on us or came around to ask if we needed anything. My wife ordered an order of toast and only got one slice ( they said that was what an order consisted of). In what country? I had an order of scrapple that was one piece and seriously razor thin ($3.99). French toast was bread with egg on it!. When I got to hotel I had ordered a extra bed and I didn't have it the first night one child had to sleep on the floor I mean when I booked the hotel I order the bed at same time there was no excuse for it also the room needed to be updated lots of things were damaged and creaky beds one day we didn't have enough towels had to call them twice to get them. Were awakened each night around 2:30 a.m. with shouting and loud partying along with the slamming of doors which continued for at least an hour or more ruining our sleep for the night and our hopes for a restful vacation - we feel that the hotel should have more control of their guests - some guests actions should not infringe on the rest of the guests in the surrounding area - we will more than likely not be returning to the hotel due to the disrespect we encountered. 1. The beach foot wash was around the building, not convenient. 2. Bathroom in the room was rundown and dark. No fan and very small. 3. The public restroom was disgusting and hot- like being outside- no air circulation and dark and moldy. 4. Constant noise from above our room like someone bowling. 5. Public pool is too small for large crowds of people. 6. Had to keep getting doorkey reset. 7. No wifi. We were there the end of September so they were not fully staffed. Service for breakfast on our last day was very slow. Because there was an event with souped up cars the whole weekend the traffic was horrible. Evacuating the hotel @ 1:30 AM and no one informing as to the reason why the alarm went off. Elderly and children were emotional and upset. I understand that for the safety of the people staying at the hotel this was a precaution never the less people were upset. bathrooms were a little tight and wished we could have smoked on the balcony but did have a nice smoking area downstairs. Thin walls. Roomed right next to a family with a child who played paddy cake until 1am in the morning not at all caring that they were NOT the only people in the hotel. We then again were woken up by the same screaming child at 330am and the final distrubtion to our sleep was 930am. Rooms/tv's need to be updated. The air conditioner unit is very loud which makes it hard to sleep. It turns on & off many times. Requested a wake-up call that did not happen, requested service (clean towels and empty trash only) and it took a few hours for staff to respond. Had to go down 10 flights of stairs at 2:30 am because a drunk guest pulled fire alarm off the wall. Had another fire alarm 8:30 pm same day. Was getting old n hard on my back.front desk not the friendliest. N/A. When I called the hotel the night before to check my reservation and they said I didn't have a reservation. Cost... Was not able to have banana pancakes as listed on the menu as they were out of bananas. Large game room largely empty Need foot wash closer to beach exit (currently need to walk to side of building). That I had to leave so soon.
