It was exactly what I wanted from our trip to Galveston, and with the unexpected upgrade to a suite it just made our trip even better! We loved the whole experience. Enough towels, essentials, breakfast, no extra cost for the bottled water in the room. the view was fantastic, everything was walking distance and the poolside at the Hotel Galvez was more added to our package! loved it all! I will be going back and referring my friends and family! :).
all reviews » The hotel has spacious rooms and vanity area is very nice with 2 mirrors. It is within walking distance of The Galveston Strand shopping area and several excellent restaurants. Hotel location is also excellent for someone that is departing or arriving on a cruise and want to have an extended stay in Galveston. Great location for an Anniversary weekend to relax and see a wide variety of sights. Our Harbor House room included livingroom space with sofa, chairs, tables and lots of good lighting. The bed was the best and had a comforter so cozy, I didn't want to get up! Staff was very friendly and helpful. Everything from the friendly front desk man (Mr. Hazzard I believe) who was probably the nicest guy we talked to all day to the unique decor. We went there looking to enjoy ourselves, not to find reasons to complain, but it wouldn't have mattered if we had been grumps... Everything was great. The room was lovely. Excellent value for the money. A great variety of restaurants within walking distance. Galveston Museum only a few minutes walk. Our room looked out over the small marina and we could see the bay. We will certainly stay there again!. Very clean. On the water front. Large room. Plenty of nice resturants in walking distance. Shopping on the Strand in walking distance. Designated parking. Our particular night was quiet in and around the Hotel. Comfy room, close to the Strand, harbor view, friendly staff, nice restaurant downstairs and others nearby. Room came with pool privileges at the Hotel Galvez -- gorgeous -- and my son loved it's swim up bar. The room was big, comfortable and had an awesome view. Loved the quaintness of the Harbor House. Never want to stay on the seawall again. Very nice having breakfast snacks in the lobby of our floor. We love the big rooms. The bed was very comfortable. The view from our window was fun to look on the wharf. It is the closest hotel to Texas A & M at Galveston. The rooms were very clean. The location was really nice, close to many ventures around the area most in walking distance. I enjoyed the comfort of the bed and the view of the water just outside the window. The location was great with a super view of the harbor. The staff was very friendly and helpful, The hotel is located within walking distance of several nice restaurants. We were visiting Texas A & M at Galveston, and this hotel was very close to the school. The room was very comfortable!. Next door to cruise ship port and within walking distance to shops and eats. Very nice place clean and well decorated. Very Clean, convenient to our needs, very comfortable, nice view of Harbor, not luxury but had a nice atmosphere. The facility was very nice. When i first booked the hotel i didn't know what to expect. It really was great. The staff was particularly nice. A big Thank You to Linda May for making our stay so nice. I liked the size of the rooms and the anenities provided. The location was also excellent. great location,like the outside bar area.,also is close to strand and other activities. At the city docks. Restaurants all around & two blocks from the strand. A free music concert with two great bands right out the front door. Loved the room and decor,location and view. Friendly staff. Clean and elegant! My husband was unhappy there was no protein like ham and eggs in the breakfast provided. I don't like paying for parking if I'm staying at a hotel. It wasn't an outrageous fee but I'd still prefer to spend that money on the trip and not on parking. Breakfast was lacking but fare was the same as the majority of mid -priced hotels. There is a small tourist train that runs nearby. The track is being repaired and it is out of commission. Bathrooms were a little dated, but clean. I booked through letsbookhotel.com and I was never told that I would be charged for parking at the Harbor House. My invoice from Harbor House delivered under my door was $40-$50 dollars different from my quote giving by letsbookhotel.com. Not sure whos fault that is, haven't had time to research it. I've always used Hotwire and never had any surprise charges. The higher price for summer season. We stayed there in March and received the off season price. I like that thier was secure parking but didn't like that we had to pay for it that should've been comp. I also didn't like the fact there was no ice machine on our floor and the breakfast was very poor. The televsion cabinet doors wouldn't open wide enough to allow us to watch from the bed. We had to sit on the couch to watch. Not a big deal, but I like to watch tv before going to sleep at night. Also, the continental breakfast was pretty poor. The bathroom door needed to be wiped down, it had dirty finger prints on it. But other than that it was wonderful. $10 ea to park two cars. Did not like the cabinet doors that blocked the view of the TV from the bed. Our stay was not long enough. We definitely would go back and recommend our family to stay there as well. The bathrooms needed remodeling. did not like the light switches in the room. sheets on the bed did not smell fresh. On your sheet it advertises free breakfast. It is a continental breakfast & not a good one at that. No milk, no cereal. Coffee pot did not work. Only single cup of coffee, one decaf and one reg! No coffee available before 7. No gym. Very limited breakfast. One elevator. breakfast area/food was lacking in size and options. musky odor. $10.00 parking fee that I was not informed of until I was there checking in. I feel that should have been part of my booking, was almost like a hidden fee. Extra fee for parking. the room felt a little moist because of the humidity, but it wasn't overwhelming. Nothing's. The site advertised free parking, go there and found out there was a fee nightly. Poor housekeeping; had to travel to another location/ hotel for business center, fitness, and spa services. Overpriced. Mixup by Harbor House over reservation (wrong date). Was give a Queen double instead of King as requested. Expensive parking. AC didn't work. Called for maintenance and waited 30 minutes. I went to the front desk and maintenance had not been called yet. Night manager was rude and offered no solution until maintenance checked, this was at 11:00 pm. 10 minutes later maintenance shows up and has to replace entire unit, but he was very nice. Also pillows are a joke and free breakfast is very small and limited. Reserved a king it was confirmed and paid for. Upon arrival there were no king rooms available. bathroom mirrors dirty and spotted. Hair in sink. Only 1 bar of soap to use for bath and sink. Desk attendants not friendly. Room smelled musty. No lobby or foyer restrooms. Furniture was beginning to show its age,i.e., becoming shabby.
