The whole experience from the time I arrived and met Kevin and the staff were just excellent in every way. It is a true Motel with great service with the cars to take you to the areas where you need to go and eat or you can just stroll down to Manhattan Ave and get the real experience. I was truly taken by the attitude from everyone there and the rooms were excellent and so cozy , if only I had a girlfriend!! When I return to New York it will be Box House Motel and nothing else , locked in!! Jo.
all reviews » We loved the spacious room, the decoration of the room, the hotel, the general design and clever use which was made of he space. Our room was terrific and are grateful for the upgrade. We saw the Chrysler Building from our bed ... very cool. The staff were adorable and extremely helpful. And the old-timer car service was coolest of all ! The proximity to the subway (one stop only from Grand Central !) and from the ferry to dumbo and Wall Street make this a very good alternative to highly priced. Great helpful,freindly staff. Upgraded us to a suite with roof top terrace that had view of Manhattan skyline.The suuite was immaculate with hardwood floors....no creepy dirty rugs.... Funky decore, large windows. Free on street parking directly across the street. Short walk to the g train. Front desk staff will tell you how to get there. Take the g train 2 stops to the l train which is a high speed train directly into Manhattan. Or stay in Green Point neighborhood staff will give you recommend. Rooms very comfortable and well kitted out. Loved the bed - luxurious pillows and very comfortable nights sleep. Perfect location - quiet but with very easy access to Manhattan. Fantastic free local chauffeur service. Staff are lovely and helpful. These are self-catering apartments so you don't have the usual food and beverage facilities available to you but this was never a problem. The hotel are happy to recommend local good places to eat. Decor and environment within the hotel is fabulous!. My family of 3 adults shared a loft suite with kitchen. Staff is extremely helpful, room is big, very clean and with good beds/convertible sofa. Walking distance crossing the bridge with fantastic view on South Manhattan to either metro (one stop to Grand Central) or ferry to Manhattan. Parking just outside the hotel. We only used the taxi shuttle a couple of times back from the station after a long days sight-seeing ... but it's an excellent service. Our whole family loved this hotel. The staff was utterly marvelous, we were sad to wave good-bye when we left. The room was beautiful and unique and fun. The level of comfort and attention to detail in every aspect of our stay was unbelievable. The original artwork is amazing. The hotel owns restored Checker Cabs to shuttle you around the Greenpointw area and the subway is close and only a few minutes to midtown Manhattan!. Such a cool wee hotel, each suite is huge, really well fitted out and in a really cool neighbourhood. It's near the subway (a 10 min walk across the bridge) and the hotel provide free shuttles in cool '50's checker cabs. All the staff are really friendly and go out of their way to help. The shuttles will take you anywhere nearby (pizza shop, Williamsburg, Brooklyn Bridge etc). We loved this place and will be back again. Great hotel, very pleasent service all over the hotel. Very nice Loft rooms which a luxiury kitchen, nice bathroom and very much space. Also the hotel's own oldtimer taxis are great, that bring you to your subwastation or to a city nearby brooklyn. The fact that it was outside Manhattan, where most of the tourists are and that it was close to Williamsburg (one of the places to be in NY). So you get a total different view of NY than the average tourist. The hotel was new and clean. The way it was decorated: colourful entrance, wooden floors, ikea furnishing. Generally this hotel is a good choice, because the interior is really nice and well designed, and it is not far from the center of Manhattan (20 minutes by subway). its great to stay in hotels where design and image have been thought about and the place has a unique character. A super clean relaxing hotel with a nice spacious room. In Greenpoint, Brooklyn but one subway stop from Grand Central, a short walk to the hotel from the subway stop. The area is up and coming but not there yet, so expect a run down industrial area. The hotel is recently renovated and done to a high standard. The staff are helpful and there is a free old style taxi run by the hotel that operates within a radius of a about one and half miles. The decor was chic and modern. Windows would be better though to let in more light in the rooms. 1. The loft apartment, #101, was ideal for our family group of 5 as it allowed us to interact continuously throughout our stay. 2. Although skylights gave plenty of light, we would have liked to be able to open a window to the outside - felt just a bit claustrophobic during 4 days ... The windows need blinds as well as the curtains - it's a bit light in the morning. No claims. Quite some noise outside, but with earplugs you do not hear it. Loved the shower soaps and shampoos...would be cool to get a complimentary bottle of mini-hand lotion and hand soap for the sink that coordinated with the essential oil scented stuff in the shower. There is no any view from the rooms generality. From the room where we stayed only the roof windows could be opened. In the suites there is no separated bedrooms, and the second possibility to sleep is a sofa. The hotel could use a small wine bar and a breakfast place. Easy to get to and some interesting places for wine and food nearby but the area itself is not particularly attractive. The room we were originally given was not only facing the busy road over the bridge but was next door to reception which proved noisy at night. Without hesitation the room was changed. Can't think of anything!. Parking on street. However, it was safe and convenient and FREE. Nothing!. I have no dislikes about this hotel. Parking was limited and we got a ticket one day when parking on the street. No daily maid service and they didn't replenish our supplies (like coffee) in the 3 days that we were there. Room was too bright at night- need better curtains. Nothing. No complaints :). I think the hotel would benefit from adding magnifying mirrors to the bathroom but certainly not a big deal. Might want to make a deal with a local coffee company for the in stock coffee. The hotel is too cool and hip for the coffee they stocked. The only thing I didnot like the location it's away from times squer about 15-20 min in car but other than location it's perfect. The oppressive heat in New York in mid-July. I had no complaints. nothing at all. There was nothing I didn't like. expensive (maybe not for NY) too hard bed sharp corner on nightstand that cut my head when I rolled over at night no view. I didn't like the fact that on the website they stated we would have a private entrance and an airport shuttle . Which they had neither. the bathroom wasn't cleaned when we arrive. it seemed just the cleaning staff forgot because the lid was on. one of the TV display was broken. It would be ideal if there was a coffee shop/restaurant/bar. The fact that the curtains did not close or block out the early am sun,strange to have no safe in a room and an 11 am check out!!!. There's no restaurant but they said they were opening shortly and it will just next door. So things will be perfect!. No breakfast (but you can make your own in the kitchen in your room, which is bigger than that of most NY apartments ) Location is about 10min away from 2 subway stations. Lack of light in the room. The remote for windows didn't seem to work. Could have just been my lack of skill. noise. All good. internal room, no windows, minimal hot water one night. Nothing at all.
