What people say
Very friendly staff with just the right amount of attention. The beds were very comfortable en suite good & ckean. Tea & coffee making in the room, replenished daily. Views of the Lakeland Hills beautiful. We were travelling with an American Mature couple who were equally impressed. The food was to die for & my husband suggested stealing the chef But his wife, the owner wuld not let us. Shame! We also noted that it was a dog friendly Inn, another good mark.10 out of 10. all reviews »
It is an excellent place for a North/South overnight stop over, or a
Lake District stay.
It is easily found just off the M6.
The hotel is itself is perfect: large car park, warm welcome, very cosy, great meal, super breakfast, attentive but not overbearing, comfortable beds, idyllic surroundings. No complaints. Highly recommended.
The food was excellent. We had breakfast and evening meal and both were excellent. The staff were friendly and efficient but did not bother you at all. It seemed very family friendly as there were others with children whom seemed very happy.
The food, the food, the food - it's superb..am intent on working
through the whole menu!!! Oh and the location is really good too! Such a
friendly place, really relaxing. This was our second visit and it most
certainly won't be our last.
very accommodating owner - provided an early breakfast for us as we had to leave early one morning.
My room was very spacious and the bed very comfy.
Staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent and beautifully presented. Very good value for money.

Great that you can take your dog too.
It was perfect in every way for what we wanted. Near the Motorway, welcoming and delicious supper and breakfast.
It was very clean, the food was excellent and the staff were lovely. The toiletries in the room were also great.

Friendly atmosphere.
Superb food. Really delicious - beyond expectation.
Comfortable bed, quiet room - great night's sleep.
Food is superb.
Breakfast was lovely.
Nothing. I could find no fault other than we were due to move on. We
could have stayed for a week. We will be back.
A word of warning if you arrive late afternoon, avoid the A66 from Scotch corner as you get the sun straight in your eyes if it is a fine evening. However the scenary is maybe worth it.
Room 6 was very small, but was alright for our stay off 2 nights as it was very peaceful with no noise.
Rooms are a bit tired but comfortable - with hillwalking clientele we
didn't expect luxurious surroundings. Wouldn't put us off
going back.
purely location wise i had an event at Windermere early am and we had wanted to be nearer. Other than that it was excellent.
Staff were not especially friendly. Restaurant was very expensive so we ate elsewhere. No vegetarian sausage option at breakfast despite me requesting it on booking.
Nothing to dislike.
Not a thing!.
Bed was a bit firm for me.
The bedroom was small. The bathroom facilities were poor. The bed not good.
Ensuite bathroom down a few steps lower than bedroom.
Towels poor.
quality of finish in the room was just a touch unfinished but generally good.
Very slow getting hot water from the tap. Not a very good shower.
Cleanliness a bit of a let down as it was clear to see carpet under the bed and other furniture had not seen a hoover in a while.
Nothing really.
Nothing.
Nothing.
A bit too quiet in the evenings.
Slight noise from bar below bedroom.
Room a bit tired. Shower not great. Flies in restaurant.
Bit noisy, near a main road, but not a problem.
Hotel smelled of gloss paint and could do with updating in some rooms.
