Everything was outstanding, we have'nt stopped in the giltar for a few years, but on our arrival I was amazed at how different it was. It said on the web site that it was being refurbished, it was stunning. The minibar & the lounge was so comfortable, once I sat there I didnt want to move, the rooms were so clean & beautifully refurbished, my dad had a single room. And it was all brand new. The staff are all really friendly. And the breakfast was amazing. Everything about our stay.
all reviews » We love Tenby and normally stay in another hotel but went for Giltar this time. Hotel is lovely, and in middle of refurbing the rooms which will make all the differecne when all rooms are upgraded. We, unfortunately did not have one of these rooms, but we did have a sea view. Breakfast was very nice, good quality foods, excellent staff service and good coffee!!. Although our room was a standard rear facing double & not yet refurbished, the friendly service & cleanliness at the Giltar was 2nd to none. Breakfast was lovely with a wide choice of buffet & cooked breakfasts. The room was extremely clean & comfortable. I would definately recommend this hotel for a pleasant stay in Tenby. I have stayed at The Giltar 3 times previously. This time was with my daughter but there is no real grouping for that in theabove. The atmosphere is friendly, bar staff and waiting staff all friendly and couldnt be more helpful. The barman Claudio, in particular, is great. The location was fantastic with plenty going on around the area. The staff were very helpfull at all times and the breakfast was to a good standard. We are an older couple and piped music was pleasant and suited all ages. close proximity to kiln park ,for visiting relatives there,very sociable and welcoming staff,good value for money for the location of the hotel on the seafront, I would recomend the hotel to other people. Our room was a "half room" where in the past to make more rooms they split a room in 2. You can easily hear the neighbours TV/music due to thin wall and = small room. There was absolutely nothing we didn't like about this hotel!!. I would think in the summer the room could be a little stifling as the window could not be opened. There is no evening entertainment at all during the winter and we went at half term. If there was only entertainment every other night it would be better. We went to The Belgrave hotel a few doors down in the evenings because they have entertainment every night. Nothing. Not applicable. I was lucky to find A parking space at the rear of the hotel. Nothing. No parking, but lucky it was a bit off season so found some on the side street (could be a problem in peak season). We were in an unfurbished room. The facilities in the room were fine, however the room had been divided at some point, and the dividing wall was paper thin and resulting in us being able to listen very easily to the people in the next room. We felt we had no privacy. (304) my son stayed in a single room 302 and this was fine. Having to leave the hotel at the end of our stay. We love Tenby and visit a few times a year always hate leaving there. We had a sea view which I requested but unfortunately the window was too high to be able to see out when laying in bed. Also unable to open window due to seagulls - not much the hotel can do about that!! Next time we shall book a more expensive room to get a better view. Nothing. Lounge needs up-dating. Parking can be a problem. There was a wedding on which took presidence over our room being ready and you could hear the party but didn't spoil our time. bathroom needed an update, but was clean. Although the breakfast was nice some things could be improved~better cooking oil + nicer bread for toast.Was a bit disappointed with evening meal especially as we had gone “a la carte“ as it was a special occasion. The tv needs an overhaul in that the sound went off. Nothing I didnt like. breakfast was only ok. I didnt think the room was worth the money I know they are re decorating the rooms but ours was outdated big time, I would definatly go back there when the rooms are as nice as they showed on the website, when I went into the room I was dissapointed it was the first time in twenty years my wife and I had been away without the children and the room was a let down. Car parking inadequate, however plenty of long stay parking a fwe hundred yards away. No complaints ..... A bit cold in the room due to unseasonably wintry weather. Bathroom a bit cramped but OK. nothing. En Suite very small Mattress needs 'oiling'!. Scrambled eggs! Thought they had been previously and kept in Bain Marie. Nothing. Nothing. The communal areas - particularly the bar. The store rooms being left open near the lifts. Bad smell in the second floor corridor. The only thing we were unhappy with was the bed it was very uncomfortable. Small bathroom. Nothing. All fine, would be nice to have a bar in the ground floor lounge however I believe this is planned as part of the ongoing refurbishments. nothing.
