The offer of something to eat even after arriving late at night following a holdup on the motorway. A comfortable bed and an excellent breakfast. I stayed there a year ago and it was just as pleasant an experience. suffering from a chronic lung condition the climb up to the 2nd floor was painful, a lift would be a good thing. Too many chips with Dinner! Difficulty in finding the place.Television reception in my room wasn't great. Hotel is slightly shabby but reasonably clean. Hard to find at night, no lights or sign visible in dark from road. Unfortunately due to a shortage of staff, our bathroom had not been cleaned, I had to request they empty the bin and provide toilet paper, the bath and sink had used soap and did not look as if they had been cleaned properly, as the mop was still left in the bathroom, the bedroom and bed linen was clean and the room was comfortable, the staff were very apologetic and we enjoyed our stay.dogs X 3 running around barking both on arrival and when trying to eat in the bar. Owner seemed oblivious to how bad this is for customers. I am used to dogs, but others would have been terrified. Dog non lovers beware. We had to ask to change room because the first one was very cold.No lift.As four seventy year olds having to get to the third floor required some effort.Alarm also went off early each morning waking us up.One room's razor light didn't work. needs a refurb. I was a little put off when walking into the reception was greeted by 2 dogs laying on the guest sofas and a cage of chipmunks. I am an animal lover but found this a little off putting. The decor was very dated and although the bathroom was clean it needed redecorating and updating. I did not feel that the hotel was value for money.
