We loved everything abou tthe Blue Bell Hotel - the receptionist was lovely and very helpful - the lovely blonde lady who worked at breakfast time was smashing - the bar staff were lovely and overall our stay was brilliant. The rooms were fine - clean and comfortable - the situation was perfect for our travelling around and sightseeing. I'd definitely stay here again and definitely recommend it to anyone visiting the area. Many thanks - we'll be back!!.
all reviews » The bedrooms were simple but well decorated and had everything one needed for a good nights rest. There was also a small flat screen TV as well as Tea and Coffee making facilities and a lift. Hotel bedrooms on three floors. Purposely built hotel bedroom block and large car park. Staff could not have been more helpful. There was also a bar and a restaurant with a carvery on the Sunday, but it finishes at 18:00 hours. Stayed after Bungee Jump off Transporter Bridge!!!!! Great value for money room and Breakfast, cooked breakfast grilled so not greasy, large portion, friendly efficient staff Middlesbrough is very friendly. North Yorkshire on door step, stunning scenery, popped to Whitby.....Fab Captain Cooke Ship Ride (Only £3) eat great fish and chips (crispy batter yummy)...Journey home via York...Stunning....and Bettys Fab xx. The staff were very helpful, when I booked they couldn't guarantee a bed for my daughter, when I phoned to check if they could there wasn't one available however one was sourced from another hotel and this was sorted very quickly. It was very clean, a little dated but the cleanliness was very good, nice sheets and towels. The whole experience was great. The staff were lovely and polite and helpful and the room was great, it was clean and comfy and definitely value for money. If I was ever in the Middlesbrough area again I would definitely stay there again. Comfortable, great value for money, pub at the front of the hotel has 4 or 5 TV's with the football on every night !! (essential for regular travelers like me). Great Wireless Network Connection as well. Very close to family living in M'bro. The Blue Bell was clean as was my room and all staff were friendly. The breakfasts were good, I don't know about dinner as I didn't have an evening meal there. Very clean overall, good shower, comfortable bed. Breakfast was part buffet (cereal, toast, yoghurt) with choice of cooked from menu, friendly helpful waitress. Had a bar meal, very tasty, hot and though we had been told there was a 25 minute wait for meals it was served well within that time. Staff very friendly. The room was spotless and adequate for my needs. I have stayed in 3 and 4 star establishments and the rooms haven't been as good as at the Blue Bell. 1 Location 2 Very clean 3 Room where good, ideal for what we required 4 Entertainment on Sunday night was brilliant. 5 Locals where friendly. Meals were excellent although didn't get any toast served with b/fast, and pot of tea would have been helpful. The Staff at the Bluebell Where really friendly and helpful! Our 1st room the window would not open and the room was very hot and stuffy, the young man was happy to take us to a room were the window would open. The bedding and towels were spotless and the beds and pillows were very comfortable - in all other areas the hotel was worthy of its 2* rating. There wasn't anything we didn't like - every thing was great - please send on our thanks to the staff - they were superb!. There is no possibility for food after 18:00 hrs on a Sunday. So if you arrive in the early evening you cannot eat till the next day as the hotel is not surrounded by eating places as far as I could see. Breakfast was a ok, quality of food was nice but a little limited, no fruit or much healthy options choice but was ok. Difficult to find anything not to like. The only criticism I could level against the hotel is the fact that breakfast doesn't start until 07:00. Our rooms were a little too hot during the night. However in cold wintery weather this would be a welcome thing :-). I found the bar staff a bit slow for such a busy pub but that will improve with experience I'm sure. Cant comment on the food as we left very early,. Wi-Fi not so simple to get access. Hot water pipes made room stifling. The bed was a little narrow and the duvet for summer was far too thick. Had no dislikes. Only qualm was that the credit card machine did not work, so we had to have a whip to pay cash. We had a double room which had 2 single beds pushed together of quite uneven heights. We only stayed one night but found this annoying for a good night sleep. Might as well just been in 2 single beds, and that's not what we booked. Decor looks tired. Some bits a little tired but nothing i didnt like really. Not able to use wifi at room. No ventilation in bathroom - extractor not working. May have been cause of mould on ceiling. Reported this and was logged for attention straight away. Having to pay £15 so we could check out 90 mins later than normal! Then at 2 mins past 11am, a cleaner letting herself in, and asking what time we were leaving, she should have already been told! Quite noisy at night with doors shutting. Room was very dark, no main light, had to cope with bedside lights only. Stewed tea and a breakfast waitress who didn't listen. Nothing. Nothing to dislike. went for meal in bar had to wait around 20mins as function on when it did finally arrive couldn't eat it chips had been reheated chicken must have been heated up in microwave and peas were like bullets would not recommend bar meal. nothing . N/A. I was given a key to a room which already had someone in and was actually in the room when I opened the door ... A little embarrassing on both sides! Had a brief apology and got an empty room!. Dim lighting, dull decor, loose screws in all the doorhandles!. cant fault it. A bit of damp and musty smell in the bathroom. Starting to look a bit dated, needs a lick of paint. Some minor problems which could be solved by normal maintenance. when it was a frosty night the bar was quite cold, especially by the windows. Room smelt of smoke so much we had to sleep with window open and it was -2. Rather poor breakfast facilities. Greasy full English. Informed hotel I was disabledbut placed as far from facilities as could be. Phone to reception was broken, room service supposedly free but you advertise Fri as grill day for £5.99 but charged £6.70. Bed mattress most uncomfortable, room over looked yard full of broken beds. However Bluebell was a good value stay and would use again if I was accompanied by partner. No bedside table to put spectacles, watch, alarm clock on - need to have glasses close to hand when visiting bathroom during night. Also please can they provide a detachable shower head, essential item in my view. The cleanliness of the room was really off putting. The bath plug was black instead of silver and the dust on the sink was really shocking to be honest.I would have be more comfortable if it had been cleaner.
