Great location, Has an 'Oulton Broad' frontage with moorings and car park. Fantastic view down the length of the Broad and marina from the restaurants conservatory. The Wherry, located at Mutford lock, as is Waveney River tours. At literary just a few meters from the hotel, a pleasant guided boat trip along the Broad is bookable twice a day. The hotel looks to have been completely modernised inside. Bright and airy with energy efficient lighting that brightens corridors as you use them. Warm co.
all reviews » Our room was lovely. We booked a 'deluxe double room with a view' on offer for £71. It had a very comfy, big bed, bath with decent overhead shower, bathroom was clean (as was whole room). The room had windows along one wall, which gave a beautiful view over the little harbour with boats and lots of pretty sky. We had the carvery on Sunday, which was a standard carvery really - good selection of veg and sides. Two choices of meat, would have been good if there was a vegetarian option. Only two v. We have previously visited this hotel but had a boat moored overnight on the water out the front,so we knew the location was fantastic. The room was spotless,modern and well presented,very comfy bed,large tv and great bathroom. Staff are very friendly and extremely helpfull, we booked less the 24hours in advance on the bank holiday saturday and they where more then happy to have the travel cot in our room ready and even manged to get us an early check in. We ate all our meals on site and all . We needed a last minute stop-over in the area. The hotel had views over the water; friendly, caring staff and decent walks. We asked about how to keep the water in the bath and was told it wasn't working properly. They told us to order what we wanted from the menu and it would be delivered to the room. We travel a lot and when you're with small children you need the homely things - this hotel has exactly that!. The Wherry is in a lovely position on the end of the Broad and away from the town. The rooms and public areas are nicely, modernly decorated and well maintained. It has obviously had some money invested in it. The food is of good quality and is delivered quickly. The carvery is extremely good value and constantly replenished. Plenty of room to accommodate everyone in the restaurant and staff very pleasant. We have stayed at the werry hotel 3 times now.The staff are allways friendly and keen to help,and the hotel is allways nice having seen the before and after after the last refit.The location of the hotel is really nice on the banks of oulton broads Another plus for this hotel is its very close to gt yarmouth which was packed,and southwold which is a must to see. This was our second stay at this hotel and on both occasions the service has been excellent. The staff are friendly, the rooms are clean and comfortable and at the price is great value for money. The food is good pub food and the carvery is very good value. We upgraded to the junior suite with view and it was well worth it, with a lovely view over the water. Lovely hotel in great location. Restaurant open all day - so do not have to decide in advance whether you want carvery (which is excellent), something from the menu or a snack. All staff first class and a credit to the hotel. I used to live in the area and knew of the Wherry, but the recent refurbishment is a vast improvement. The room was clean and comfortable, and the view excellent. All the staff were friendly and could not have been more helpful. The carvery was not only excellent, but also exceptional good value. We arrived latish but managed to get a Sunday dinner, which was reasonably priced . Our room was upgraded to one with a view, guess it was not taken. The receptionist was very helpful. By the way the description of who we were did not fit us, my mum who is 80 and myself who is nearly 60. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The food was great. The location next to Oulton Broad was convenient and a pleasant setting. The room was excellent and like new with quality fittings. We were at the back of the hotel but still a great room. Parking was plentiful. We were in a junior suite with a fabulous view over Oulton Broad. It was lovely and warm despite sub-zero temperatures outside. The staff were friendly and welcoming even when some had walked in through the snow! Clean and well-cared for. Excellent carvery!. We enjoyed our visit very much I had my parents with me who also felt relaxed and enjoyed there time, plus we had two of the best rooms in the hotel overlooking the broads what a view to go to bed at night and also to wake upto in the morning. The Room we had was in an excellent position with a river view, the meal on Saturday night was excellent and breakfast was good. All the staff were very helpful but we should have been advised to book a table for diner as it was extremely busy. Lovely situation by Oulton Broad. The Carvery was great value and you could also order a la carte if you wanted something different. Also if you just wanted a sandwich in the evening you could order at the bar with no fuss. For what we paid we had a superb bedroom with lovely views. Disappointed that the balcony was out of use but understood maintenance being carried out. Lovely receptionist and chambermaid. Beautiful hotel set in lovely surroundings. Our room had a wonderful view across the water.Food was fantastic,buffet style breakfast included excellent quality food and the carvery was amazing value. Lovely views across Oulton Broad and beyond!. The location was great overlooking the broads with all the swans ducks boats etc. Lovely curry house opposite the hotel. The boat trip was good and the hire of a small boat self drive was good. I loved looking out over Oulton Broads and my daughters loved watching the road bridge go up and down when the boats went through. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay I wish I could have stayed longer. I loved our stay at this hotel from the minute we walked in the receptionist was a very friendly and happy person as was all staff room was super with amazing views highly recommended. Any problems were dealt with as quickly as reasonable. The carvery is very popular & the menus & tables could be a little cleaner. Food service was good as was the quality. The Lady Abigail suite, although dated, was very comfortable. Food from the menu was good. Location was superb. Bed was very comfortable and we slept well. Very large car park. The Location was great, short walking distance of shops, restaurants, railway, buses, boat trips, large family park with children's swimming / paddling pool. Also excellent views. Our second visit here was every bit as enjoyable as the first. The young team of management and staff are always cheerful and nothing is too much trouble for them. Very good suite although the Tv should be in the sitting area.The heating in the room is not connected to the heating system.Was overlooked on refurbishment. The views from my room were stunning. The Hotel is ideally placed if you are boating with a group of friends and you need a hotel with a mooring. Rooms were very comfortable. Carvery was good. A limited choice of fresh fruit at breakfast. The carvery, open to non residents is very popular, you can therefor find yourself at the end of a long que waiting for your meal!. Needs to be more vegetarian options on restaurant menu. Also we came down for breakfast at 10.30, thinking it was served until 11 and were told it stopped at 10. As this was included in our payment, this was disappointing. We felt it should have been made clear on checking in that breakfast finished at 10, an hour before checking out time. We weren't offered any money off for this. Really nice room at £71, but not sure I would have paid the regular price for it. only one grip was that our rooms window,which was round the back,as all the sea-view rooms where fully booked,opened onto a roof which had what we think where ventalion chimneys coming out of it.It was not too warm a night so we didn't have the window open a great deal but had we needed to the humm may have become a bit of a disturbance when trying to sleep.wouldn't put me off the hotel,i'd just book further in advance and get a different room. The bar needs to be better organised and better staffed during busy times...particularly as you have to order your food there too. There is an unpleasant smell coming from the kitchens as you pass through the corridor from reception to the bar. It's a shame that the first floor corridor doesn't go all the way round, as it was a long walk to room 123 (a lovely superior room), which would have only taken 2 seconds the other way round!. The area around the hotel is very quite with not alot to do in the evening so you really do need to either drive or use public transport to go anywere. Also considering we were there at the start of the holiday season lowestoft still seemed to be shut and very empty. Nothing!. Room with disabled access had no view but we booked late and so had minimal choice of room as hotel was fully booked. Wet-room style bathroom really needed to have better flooring and drainage for shower water to flow away. We developed a slight lake!!!!!. Only thing, and this is a personal preference, we had a suite and TV was in bedroom, would have preferred it in lounge area. Not the fault of the hotel but some people never shut the door when going outside and we got cold.Perhaps a discreet sign on the door would help. Although the bathroom was a good size there was only a very small shelf over the sink, not large enough to put toothbrush, paste, razor, etc... (only a small annoyance). Sunday they served 2000 meals mainly in the Carvery, it was absolutely manic until 8 pm, virtually impossible to find a table unless you booked. We ordered off the Menu as there was at least 50 queuing for the Carvery and were disappointed in the quality. Would not stay there at weekend again far too busy for a relaxing visit. N/A. No comment to make. The restaurant and the service, were in my mind, poor! Yes it was clean and tidy, but the food ranked along with 'Beefeater', 'Harvester' and such ilk, over cooked, congealed and solid, breakfast eggs fried and left to go solid, nothing freshly cooked. Nothing we didn't like. The standard room was very small. The view was lovely but was spoilt by not being able to sit near to it as there was a large side cabinet with tea making items on it in front and therefore not enough room to put a chair .this could have been put on the other side next to the warddrobe and having the wardrobe facing the window.also there was no drawer storage. The 3pm bookin is quite late so would be better later.the hotel was packed as therecwas a wedding birthday hen night. Nothing. Cant find any fault. One of the two breakfasts we had were under staffed & the servery was not as well stocked as it should have been & the bacon was undercooked & scrambled egg was overcooked & dried out. The second days breakfast was a lot better. The breakfast was very basic. No continental choice, no grapefruit juice. Choice of eggs was only fried or scrambled, no boiled or poached. No fresh bread. The cutlery was not very clean- I only had one meal with a clean fork!. Should have more family rooms for adults with kids. the room overlooked the rd roundabout,and not the river,but that's just because you were booked solid,and this is not a whinge. The bar staff were a little dozy, need a little more customer service and speed of service training, plus need to increase their knowledge of whats on offer. The process of charging drinks and meals to the room was time consuming and the food prices on the menu did not relate to those on my bill when checking-out so there was a bit of hassle but qickly sorted. Nothing. Just the weather. It rained the whole time we were there. Prices for drinks and food was a little high. leaving!!. Carpets in rooms. Smell of cauliflower cooking in the morning. No fresh milk only UHT. Fan or refridgeration unit buzzing on & off all night long, only kept me awake one out of two nights. The room we had, 112, did not have a window to open which would make it very warm in the summer. At breakfast it would be helpful to be offered a tray to take cups and teapots to the table when you are trying to take enough for two people. The normal price would certainly not be entertained due to my budget and style of useage.But my overall questionaire Truely is a reflection of my one off stay. Nothing really. It could be rather noisy at times. The breakfast on both days was diabolical. The food wasn't great. The hotel lost my booking ! and luckily there was an unidentified booking which I took or I would not been allowed to stay , I was very embarrassed as there were others standing there, I was not impressed !!! Mooring fees should be waived for residents.
