Have stayed many times. It is not the Ritz but it is all I want when having to work in the area - character, great staff, good food, and dogs! Haverhill lacks any other decent accommodation. It is not a hotel as such. It is a family run concern. From walking in to the hotel you are made to feel very welcome ,the food and service levels are very high and would recommend to anyone!. all reviews »
Staff and management made me feel very at ease a most enjoyable stay. Great food and excellent friendly staff and service. Pleasant staff. excellent food and friendliness of staff. excellent restaurant. Room had been refurbished to a good standard. breakfast. The evening meal was very good. The bed and the decor was very good. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was very pleasant. bathroom and heating requires updating. height of mirror in bathroom and not very comfotable bed. The bathroom was poorly fitted; a bad leak when the shower was used which is easily solvable, and the bath was not supported underneath. The mattress/bed was not at all comfortable, and the curtains were not strong enough to block the street lights outside. Despite the heater being on full the room was cold (stay in Jan). Overall, this led to a poor nights sleep.

The period designed restaurant features a Yorkshire stoned floor, where the brand new menu is available Monday to Saturday evening.
The Sunday carvery is always very popular and a reservation is essential. All of the produce is sourced from local suppliers.
The restaurant closes on Sundays at 17:00 after the carvery has finished. Therefore, anyone who wishes to check-in on Sunday evening after 17:00 will have the booking in procedure available to them on arrival.

Our hotel offers a more personnel service in a small country Village. We pride ourselves in offering a friendly and helpful service to all of our guests to ensure that their stay here with us is enjoyable.
Our bar area offers a village atmosphere where we regularly have live bands and entertainment. We have a bar menu available from 12:00 to 14:30 and 18:00 to 21:00 Monday to Friday and all day Saturday.
We have a separate restaurant that seats approximately 50 people and has a partially Yorkshire stoned floor, log burner for those colder evenings offering a cosy atmosphere and wooden floored area. We offer an excellent menu 6 nights a week where all of the produce is sourced from local suppliers and cooked to order. We pride ourselves in offering excellent quality and value for money on both of our menus available daily. We regularly hold weddings, christenings and private parties here, also as it is a small restaurant able to offer a very personnel service to those smaller events.
Check-in is from 14:00 to 22:00 daily and you go into the main bar area where one of the staff will be more than happy to assist you and offer you any help and advice that may make your stay here with us more comfortable.

Please note that the hotel is undergoing gradual refurbishment of each bedroom. Disturbance will be kept to a minimum, and room rates will reflect refurbishment.

Horseheath is close to the historic market town of Saffron Walden. Audley End House and Linton Zoo are also nearby. The university town of Cambridge is a 20 minute drive to the north. To the east lie the pretty Suffolk villages of Clare and Long Melford. Bury St Edmunds, with its beautiful abbey ruins and gardens, is a short drive away. We are also a 20 minutes drive from Newmarket, the capital of horse racing in the UK. Tattersalls horse sales is also an attraction throughout the year with sales dates available from Tattersalls direct.

We have 12 separate letting rooms. They are all separate to the main building and are in 3 blocks of 4. 2 blocks are on 2 floors and the other 4 rooms are all on the ground level. All rooms have satellite TV channels.
We have 2 rooms with disabled facilities with easy access. All ground floor rooms are very spacious and are ideal for the larger families.
Travelling information
From the a11, take the a1307 towards Haverhill passing a small village called Linton, follow the signs to Horseheath. Take the slip road off to your left and we are situated directly in front of you to the right.
