hotel was very spacious ,lovely view from the windows on to the golf course,staff was really friendly and would stop and have a chat with you.food was fantastic,,hotel was so clean,we will be staying there again without a doubt. There was the big fan underneath the bedroom window that woke me up very early and was loud with the window shut also our view of the golf range didnt bother me but the 2 big gas canisters was a bit of an eye sore when they could easily put up a shed of some sort to cover them up. The weather was very bad for August (ha! Ha!) plenty rain and it wascold!!!!!!. Thin walls between rooms. Expect slow service in the restaurant forbreakfast and dinner for big groups. However this is all compensated bythe friendliness and politness of the servicing staff. room at rear of hotel view of fire escape but no worry as only one night stay. Initial view of exterior of Hotel. The shower pressure and spray was very poor. It made showering and hair washing difficult and slow.Balcony was shared with other rooms so wasn't inclined to leave thepatio door open. Breakfast and Evening Meal requiremnts did not meet with my satisfaction. Staff need to improve listening skills. Not much to do if you are not a golfer. Bed was very uncomfartable. Hotel very noisy, doors slammed shut. Could be improved by notices on room doors asking residents to close doors carefully. Also room soundproofing very poor.They did not have a record of my reservation as their fax machine isbroken. I was told that Booking.com were aware of this and should havecontacted them by phone. Fortunately they had a spare room available. It costs £6 for 2 hours on Internet, quite a rip-off. There was a wedding on sat night so there was nowhere but the room to sit in and no bar / resulatrant to use. the food was terrible. I could not locate the hotel so phoned them for directions and to my shock no one answered the phone inspite of trying several times. Later when I reached the hotel I was shocked and embarrased not to find my name on the booking list and the staff made me and my family wait for 30 to 45 mins. They were giving me some different rooms and asking me to keep my 3 yrs old son miles away in another room.

The restaurant serves a wide range of cuisine, which has earned an RAC Dining Award. The Lounge Bar has extensive wines and malt whiskeys and is open until late. It is spacious and comfortably furnished with ample chairs and sofas. Breakfast is served from 07:30 to 10:00; lunch is served from 10:00 to 19:00; and dinner is served from 19:00 to 21:00.

Please note that golf is not included in the room rates. Please be aware that the 2-course dinner comprises of a starter and a main meal. In December, the bar and restaurant may be closed on Friday and Saturday nights.

Information about the area

British Cycling Museum (2.2 miles/3.5 km) - Britain's foremost museum of cycling history, housed in an old Victorian Railway Station. Includes over 400 examples of bicycle.

Tintagel (7 miles/11 km) - On one of England's most dramatic coastlines, Tintagel is home to the remains of a medieval castle. The area is of huge archaeological interest, and has for centuries been linked with King Arthur.

Pencarrow (10.5 miles/17 km) - A private house, owned and lived in by the Molesworth-St.Aubyn family. Built during the 1760's, is has a fine collection of pictures, furniture, porcelain and antique dolls and offers a superb insight into life in a Georgian country house.

By car:
From the East:
- Take the M5 past Exeter.
- Turn onto the A30 for 44 miles (71 km).
- Take the A395 signed to Camelford for 10.5 miles (17 km).
- Turn left on the A39 for 3.5 miles (5.5 km) through Camelford.
- At Valley Truckle turn right at the brown tourism sign and follow the signs to Bowood Park.

From the West:
- From Wadebridge/ Bodmin head towards Camelford.
- At Valley Truckle turn left and follow the brown tourism signs for Bowood Park.

By train:
Bodmin Parkway is approximately 12 miles (19 km) away. The hotel can arrange a local taxi or minibus service for you - please contact the hotel direct for details.

By air:
Ryanair fly to Newquay (approximately 25 minutes flight) from Stansted up to 3 times a day. Again, contact the hotel if you require a taxi or minibus arranged for you.
