What makes up for the shortcomings of the hotel is the really friendly, helpful and nice staff. For the price, you really can't complain. Location is excellent as it is VERY close to the Hippodrome so it's easy to take short rests or a nap when u r tired of walking. Breakfast was also nice, not elaborate , but again for the price you paid, you just can't complain. Was there for 7 nights, and except for the 2 roomates that i had, who talked and smoked all night, there's nothing really i can say .
all reviews » Yakamoz guesthouse is a very special place: the building is not big but furnishings is in perfect turkish style, and the atmosphere is really hospitable. Our room, was very nice, everything was full of coulors and original. In particular, the owner of the guesthouse is a very good person, he's lovely, nice and hearty. The building is very close to the centre of istanbul, so close to blue mosque and santa sofia mosque and grand bazar. I advise this guesthouse to everyone!. Great hotel! Everything was good. The rooms are very confortable and the staff is very kind. They don´t speak much english, but they try to help you as much as they can. The water in the bathroom is hot, which is great, specially when you go in the winter. The breakfast is simple, but is the traditional breakfast in Turkey, and it´s very healthy. I liked everything of this hotel. I really liked their cordial attitude and behavior. They were helpful. I could not check out in time and checked out after 4 hours and kept my luggage for another 3 hours. They were so helpful that they did not demand me any extra money. I m really greatful to them. This is the best place to stay - You are staying in the city center. The personel is friendly, helpful. There is a possibility to order a shuttle bus to airport (just for 6 eur). The room are cosy and comfortable. The location is excellent, most of Istanbul's famous sightseeing places are in a short walking distance (5 min). We had to change rooms the last night, which was fine because they took care of everything, we only had to pack our bags and when we returned from our day in the city we were already moved. The issue was that in the new room we saw 3 roaches in the few hours we were there. If there are people in the reception, then it can be a little noisy in the room. But there is a sign asking people not to congregate there after 11pm. Nothing. The bathroom was a little cold. Breakfast - bu breakfastt depends on how much do You eat for. The shower clog smelled a bit, bathroom door had to be kept closed. The stairs are a bit tricky, but the guys working there helped us with the luggage, so there was no problem. Room we had was right beside the very small lobby and the staff and their friends tended to congregate there late at night and talked loudly. The lobby wasn't conducive for that purpose. This hostel, rest area is needed. bathroom smelled a little funny. It is a hostel, after all. the room has a little small. Could have been cleaner :). All was good. Not so easy to find with the gps. But this is rather the fault of the mayoralty of Istanbul. They change often the one-way signs and they close some streets unexpectedly. Rooms without windows; breakfast. room at the ground floor was a bit noisy evening and morning time. breakfast was too simple. Breakfast was good, but no variety and the staff were slow to top up food or drink when it ran out. very dirty bathroom. Dining area was a bit messy. I was unlucky and had very loud roommates who got up very early, dont forget ear plugs:). The room did not have windows so it felt a bit like a cave, but its good enought to stay for few nights. just didnt have toilet paper all day and when taking shower, scupper seems like having problem and it flooding and hotwater from next shower booth also flood to my shower , so it was the only one issue i left . rest was great so i hope it fixed by now. Can't find one :). The room didn't have a window outside, only to the kitchen, so at brekfast time it was very noisy. There were several comments about cleanliness in the room but when you come just for two nights it is not really important.
