  We are a mature couple who stayed at the Hotel Hirschen for three nights in early October 2013. We took the train from Bern to Zurich. Zurich station, like Bern and Luzern, is quite nice with street level platforms (or escalators), a Tourist Information Office, and lots of underground shopping. We asked for a room off the square because Niederdorfstrasse can be noisy -- lots of res - The situation of the hotel, it was right in the old town and the variety of restaurants outstanding. Because it was in busy area due to shops and restaurants thought it was going to be noisy at night but that wasn't the case. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast choice very good. Easy walking distance to main station and the Zurich Lake. Ferries also very accessible. Very enjoyable stay.

  I particularly liked the fact that there was a Nespresso coffee machine in my room which made excellent coffee. Being an early riser it was a pleasure to be able to have real coffee first thing in the morning. She was really very ill and they "cuddled" her. Th - Great room - very cosy and warm with attractive furniture and the feel of staying in a friend's house, rather than an anonymous hotel room; a lovely place in which to relax. I slept so well in the large, comfy bed, and loved the cosy window seat overlooking the street below. Cute little shower room with Molton Brown goodies! Very friendly and helpful staff, and an absolutely fantastic location right next to the main Zurich train station. Will definitely book again and will recommend to others.

Although Hotel Marta is functional, plain and simple, everything is of high quality (beds, pristine bathrooms etc.). In the lobby there is a hotel computer and free tea available around the clock. The breakfast buffet does not have a wide choice but again the food is of high quality, plentiful and perfectly substantial and everything spotlessly clean. Highly recommended.
