Earl’s Regency Hotel at Kandy, one of the Hill Stations in Sri Lanka is situated on the hill facing Mahavili River. The position of the hotel itself provides great views and enjoyment of the horizon especially at morning. The hotel consists of two main buildings connected by open air walk way through the first level. The main building consists of the reception, food outlets, business center, meeting rooms and premium rooms (not recommended although higher in category and price, but no view). Th.

Good location for a trip to Kandy, as it is just outside the city but still close. At night there was a barbecue dinner outside. The quality and size of the rooms was very good. Somewhat removed from the centre of Kandy (lake, downtown). Although the property is lelatively new, there is need for updating (eg, tattered curtains). Minor plumbing glitches in one of the 2 rooms we had with a blocked sink and also not enough hot water for 2 people to shower. We Had to call housekeeping 3 times before we had the extra towels we asked for to be delivered. There was quite a lot of building works going on in one are of the hotel. All minor issues which did not detract from our overall enjoyment of the stay. The hotel provides excursions at more than double the market price. Try to take extra money from costumers. So be carful when you check-out. The bar had a live music but the singer was dreadful to the point that we left. It didn't really have many options for eating and drinking. The vegetarian options were limited. Wifi was not working in my room for several days. The driving is crazyin Kandy. Nothing. mosquitoes are everywhere especially night. room service is very slow and limited international menu. spa is overpriced. Leaves in the jacuzzi. Thought the hotel needed updating. My only complaint was that, although we booked and paid for the hotel online, we were charged again at checkout. The staff member was told of the mistake, rectified it, but there was no apology!. No wifi reception in bedrooms even though we had log in info. When checking and checkout taking more times. The swimming pool are not temparature controlled. So it was not comfortable to be in the pool's cold water. Being a 5 star hotel it should maintain a temparature controlled pool. The hotel room was filled with "Gecko", once you open the door of the balcony, so many geckos and other insects will get inside. The Food was very bad, and the collection was not good enough to satisfy different tastes. The first bedroom we had, had no views even though we had explicitly requested one. The first room must have been the only bedroom in the hotel that overlooked the boundary fence. Hotel is a bit far out. No restaurant or supermarket close by. So you have to eat in the hotel which is quite expensive. I wasn't alone! There was a lizard in my room which the room service dealt with. My bath tub wouldn't drain out properly cause most likely it was clogged. Hotel rooms are a bit ran down and would require renovation. Spa would require renovation, too. We were on room only, but when ever we ordered room service, we had to present our credit card, then the guy would come again and distrub us to get it signed off. other hotels take the Credit card as a gurantee and then you settle when you are checking out. They gave me a room as im alone in the hotel, electricty was switched off three times at night so we could not sleep, monkies were running on the wood roof and also made alot of nise at night, it was like a night mare. When checking out they added an extra bed charge on the bill , although I paid them in cash the previous day .
