I did not get the type of room I ordered, but when I asked to change I was given a very nice room with lovely views over the sea. The restaurant, the staff and the furnishing. Also the location was excellent with a 5 min. walk to the beach and the waterfront and the old town; a 15 min. walk to downtown area and a great view of the waterfront and the amazing mountain in the city with the ruins of the castle Santa Barbara on the top. As well the breakfast was very good with a lot of choices. the view from our room [17th floor], which in fact was a small suite. Getting a bit old now, but still a good hotel. No.the restaurant on the top floor was empty so not much atmosphere. we only ate there once, but were looking to eat in different local restaurants anyway. Despite a request for early checkin, they would not check us into the room untill 2pm so we sat in the lobby for three hours. At 2 pm when I approached the desk, the clerk told me there were no tripple rooms available yet. When I advised him that we had booked a double, he said we could have the straight away - god knows how long we were sitting in the lobby for unnecessaraily. The difficulty of parking to unload and pick up baggage. The shower water was not hot.although the room was clean the decor was in need of updating. Beds, weren't all that comfortable and our room was next to one of the lifts so it was noisy.Sewer smell in the rooms (remedied by running water into the toilet facilities). Smell in bathroom from drains. No tea/coffee facilities. The room was too small and was in need of redecoration.Air conditioningwas noisy, but did work effectively. The need for car parking isparamount, having to leave the car well away from the hotel was a bind.The good thing about the hotel was central to most things. air conditioning was noisy, no balconies. Public areas very small.The location was very noisy all night. small bar no coffee making facilitys. could be updated a little. breakfast food what was meant to be hot was could, some fruits where old or overgrown. TV not in bedroom. Could do with upgrade of furniture and decor in rooms. Air Conditioning extremely loud. very tired decor - in need of serious investment - not currently a 4* hotel. the cleanliness of the hotel was awful and we had to ask for clean towels everyday, hotel needs a complete revamp as is looking very dated now. The evening hotel staff were particularly rude and my room was filthy. I had to do a lot of the cleaning in my room myself, but the room did have a very nice view of the city.
