We really enjoyed our stay at Basse Provence. It is a beautiful house nestled amongst the vineyards and with a great view of the mountains. We felt very welcome there and the accomodation was clean and comfortable and well maintained. The staff were all very friendly and accomodating and made sure we felt at home. Overall a superb experience and I would recommend it to anyone. We had a fantastic stay at Basse Provence. The location is beautiful, surrounded by the winelands and the mountains and the accommodation itself was wonderful. Our room was spacious and under the thatched roof and the staff were very helpful. This was our favourite place to stay whilst we were in South Africa and we would thoroughly recommend it!.
all reviews » The location is splendid. The Dutch house is excellently kept,the gardens are gorgeous. The fact that it was built in 1655- is amazing.The view is simply breathtaking. The surrounding area is just beautiful. Coming from the hectic life of Gauteng..its just magnificent. I will return. Probably the most beautiful room we've ever had!so romantic!we particular enjoyed the wooden ceiling and the vintage bath tube facing the sea!The staff has been so kind.Especially the laundry service has been a usefull service.The breakfast also is nice and the hall is so beautiful. We were looking for a country / farm house type experience and we certainly got exactly what we wanted. Excellent views, amazing hospitality - we absolutely lived staying there and we will certainly go back soon. :))). The location is amazing, the rooms are very well laid out and spacious. The staff are incredibly helpful and the breakfast is superb and the whole experience is brilliant. The fact that one need not ask or look for anything. Bathroom well stocked with lovely underfloor heating. Safe and secure parking. Beautiful gardens. Is was spacious, clean and the beds were very comfortable and the bedding warm. The heater in the room was a bonus. The bath tub devine. the rural location just outside franschhoek. the cottage with two en suite bedrooms and A living room in between. the reception from shani. Liked the setting, just on outskirts of town with great views. Shani was very helpful with knowledge and booking of local restaurants. Huge bed, thatched roof, great breakfast, beautiful pool, quiet, relaxing, upmarket, sophisticated, nice staff. The staff is very friendly and helped us with dinner arrangements. All was perfect - from the staff to the rooms- Excellent. Great rooms and very peaceful setting. Location. rooms. Very nice, really enjoyed our stay here. The views from our window was beautiful. Nothing negative to say. the approach to the cottage needs upgrading as does the oputside patio, which could easily be made more inviting and comfortable. the breakfast was not in keeping with the 4 star viewer rating. A bit dark...like all Cape Dutch residences. We didn't stay long enough- I didn't want to come home!. The communal areas were poorer quality than the bedrooms so the website gives a slightly inaccurate view of the whole accommodation. It's nice but not as luxurious as the bedrooms photos suggest. nothing. Confusion with payment system booking through letsbookhotel.com I authorised R700.00 to be taken off my credit card - upon leaving I was asked to pay R350.00 as the hotel only deducts R350.00 - It is not clear when booking through letsbookhotel.com that they only require a 50% deposit and the balance to be paid upon departure. Uncomfortable mattress....too hard. Just need to be a bit more attentive to the front of the manor where guest check in and out as both times we had to look for someone to help us. The bathroom was not connected to the room and we had to walk over the hallway to reach the bathroom. this has never been mentioned before!. The bathroom was outside the room. Very uncomfortable.

Travelling information

From N1/Cape Town/Paarl: - Take the N1 to Paarl. Take EXIT 47, the Klapmuts exit, from the highway then turn right onto the R44. - Go straight through the Klapmuts 4-way stop and turn left after a little shop on your left called Tahieras Superette. - Travel until you meet a T-junction at Vrede and Lust wine estate, then turn right onto the R45. - Travel on the R45 to Franschhoek, follow this road until you see brown Basse Provence sign (sign is on your left) and turn right into the gates. - Follow the driveway to reception. From N2/airport: - Follow the signs for N2 Somerset West. Take N2 highway towards Somerset West. - Take highway exit for Baden Powell Road (R310 towards Stellenbosch), turn left on to Baden Powell Road. Follow this road to a three way intersection (traffic light) and turn right onto Adam Tas Road towards Stellenbosch (an extension of the R310). - At a T-junction turn left onto Adam Tas Road. Go through three sets of traffic lights and at the fourth traffic light turn right into Helshoogte Road. - Follow Helshoogte Road all the way to a T-junction at Allee Bleue farm, turn right onto the R45 to Franschhoek. - Follow this road until you see brown Basse Provence sign (sign is on your left) and turn right into the gates. Follow the driveway to reception.
