Very professional and helpful staff who responded quickly and positively to my email enquiries before we left England. On arrival we were offered a free upgrade from a de-luxe double room to a suite; we were amazed and delighted to accept! Reception staff were always willing to provide information about transport and local attractions and could not have done more to make our stay enjoyable. all reviews » I liked the location which was just below the Castle at the edge of teh old town. We had the Wavel tram stop just next to us whihc ran both into town , around it and into Kazimierz as well as furhter afield such as the Bohotara Ghetto. The large rooms were great, especially int eh heat. The mattresses and pillows were very comfortable and we had clean sheets daily. The building is lovely. Had we required it, there was also the very good value Pod Wavelem restaurant on site. The reception staff . Easy to walk to from station. Very convenient for exploring city centre, Wawel Castle and other districts. Huge room overlooking green space. Everything in the room was as promised and worked well. Breakfast is substantial. The restaurant is good value and supplied Birthday Cake and rendition in English of 'Happy Birthday'! We liked the fact that you had to navigate your way through proper older buildings to get back to Reception, more fun than soulless modern blocks. Excellent location (the Old Town, the Royal Castle) and transportation's connection to the Main Railway St. The personnel is very friendly & helpful, as well as competent. The single standard room was very clean (!) and this is a great value at the entire hotel. Varied and tasty meals for breakfast (I even got a food box for a take away sandwich). &Quot;Kompania Piwna" Restaurant has it its own & unique atmosphere. We got a huge twin room that was recently refurbished, very nice. The bathroom was enormous! The room was perfectly calm and quiet, facing a park promenade. Quick in- and outchecking with kind and helpful staff, who also gave us maps and tips on restaurants and sightseeing. They also fixed a taxi that picked us up from the airport. We were very content. The old atmosphere was great!. - I had a problem with a noise in the room next door and the staff was very helpful, they let me sleep in another room until they fixed the problem. - The excellent location, you can go to the main touristic places walking from the hotel or you can take the tram in front of it. - There are a lot of restaurants and supermarkets nearby. The location really great: near to every tourist spot. Clean enought, warm(we went in March) very good breakfast to begin a long day walking in Kracow,the food in the restaurant enormous and in good price.The staff very friently, polite, smily and always helpful. I recommend it for everybody. I hope to come back some day to the Royal Hotel. second time I've stayed there and it is my favourite hotel in Europe . Think of Kubrick's "The Shining " mixed together with " Grand Hotel " and add Dracula's castle on front doorstep . Great old European Hotel. Right next to the Castle and at the foot of the historic district. All sites are easily walkable. Hotel room was wonderful. Huge room, large living room, This was a great experience. Location, is close to everything. Situated on edge of city park. Breakfast (buffet) full of choices. Huge rooms, we stayed in new section on the park side. Great restaurant attached to hotel privately run. Everything was fantastic, a small problem with our booking at check in but we were upgraded to an apartment, great restaurant with huge portions of food and beer and exceptional staff, very friendly. The new part of the hotel with its own entrance and lift to the 3rd floor. The reservation lady was a star when she didn't charge me when I accidentally double booked. The pod served excellent food. the location of this hotel is excellent - it is 5 min walk from the old town - so at night you can go to have great dinner in the old town - always lots of people outside - so very safe at night. Probably the largest hotel room we have ever stayed in. The room was comfortable clean and quiet in a wonderful old town location across from Wawel castle and close to the market square. I actually like the location of the hotel that I nearly could see the Wawel Castle from my window. It is so close to Main Market Square that you can walk there in ten minutes. Buffet breakfast good and lots of choices. We were in teh apartment. One side was on teh front and at night I could hear people talking at teh tram/taxi stop . The other side was over the restaurant - so again teh sound of music till 11 pm was constant. However, this would not be a problem with the closed windows in winter. A hair dryer would help. We flew Ryanair and had restricted luggage space. Breakfast was plentiful but more fresh fruit would be welcome. Poor tv channels' offer (no sat or English channels). The corridor and some stuff out of the accommodation room are quite old, although I didn't notice any filth. Do not expect beautiful view from your room (but you are in down town). If you drive by your car you will meet additional costs:-( The price for accomm. Could be a little bit cheaper. The only thing I could imagine is the long corridors and many stairs to reach the room. But, on the other hand, if you stay in a room closer to the reception there will probably be noise from trams and restaurants!. - It's an old hotel, and I think It's about time to change the curtains because it doesn't block the streetlights neither the sunlight. - A little bit noisy because of the trams passing on the street. - The Wi-Fi signal was very low in my room. I had to sit on the corridor hall to use the internet. I'm afraid that the carpet in the corridors had a bad smell. Also, as I have already written to the hotel's question list, the building - as many in Kracow- is very beautiful(art deco style).A Painting however would show off its beauty. The hotel needs updating in parts and the decor could do with brightening up. Nothing all good. The quality of service varied a bit with the staff, but for the most part was great. There is a tram passing under some of the rooms, a bit noisy. Nothing. Liked everything !. nothing bad to say. No air conditioning & no refrigerator. Although we didnt ask if one could be supplied. Nothing. The old part of the hotel was shabby and no lift to 3rd floor which is difficult for elderly, it was also hard to navigate your way around. Nothing to criticize but if you need everything new and modern then you might not like it as much. The furniture is a bit overused and the walls could do with a new coat of paint. I´m sad to say I had a room that was facing the street were all the trams went by...totally hopeless to sleep..I only stayed for two nights so.... They don't have a hairdryer. As a woman I couldn't have a shower because I have got long hair. Some rooms were renovated but unfotunately my room was very old due to hotel was full. They could not change. But room was clean. Since the hotel is on main street there is loud tramway noise if you are staying on the street side. Ask room on the park side. no complaints. Difficult to navigate your way around the hotel but ok after a few days. there wasn't any facility in the hotel for a 'cup of coffee' a samll coffee bar or in the room would have been nice. One side of the hotel backs onto a park and the rooms are quiet, however the rooms on the other side where I was staying back onto the main road with trams. The first tram started at about 04.45 with the last about 23.45. This meant you did not sleep much because when some trams went past the whole room shook with the drinking glasses on the table vibrating loudly. If you are going stay in this hotel ask for a room that backs onto the park. Its an old hotel and it has very characteristic, not the most pleasant smell, especially in the common area. Noise of the trams in the street side rooms. Expensive parking. Very expensive hotel parking. There are two complete different parts of hotel : a new and great one and the old part with rooms like a hostel: small , ugly and opsolete facilities. Only bathroom was decent!. A bit difficult to navigate way to our room but staff were helpful. Our room was on the road by the trams and the noise in the early morning when the trams started was invasive. Needed more shelving in bathroom , sink small and very little space for toiletries!. would have liked BBC World TV for news. - To get to the lobby from your room: a labyrinth! (Took pictures to find my way back ;) - Parking: 75 zloty per night!. nothing to say against it. Tram noise on the street side (but it was quiet during the night). 1. There is no hair-dryer in the room. They have only a few that were given to other customers. We where oblidged to buy two hair-dryers (as we found them in a good price). Only two things: (1)the water took rather long before becoming warm in the shower, (2) WiFi connection was unstable. Some areas are tired and need redecoeating.
