Mutiara covers all international 4star standards. Reception team is very helpfull and check-in and -out is fast. I generall all personnel is very friendly. Spacious rooms, clean, some engl. Tv channels. Breakfast standard 4 Star with good selection and fresh fruits. The hotel has two restaurants, Chinese and Local/Western which is 24 hour open, food is good. Also a music bar with live music in the evening. Happy hour all day till 9pm, buy one beer get two. Pool side is ok to refresh and to rela.
all reviews » A very old hotel, perhaps the biggest in JB with link to the mall next door. Easy access to/from highways, thus avoiding the jam on Tebrau Road. It has been extensively refurbished and upgraded. Love the big room, huge twin beds! Breakfast was good, plenty of choices. Excellent room, excellent location. Excellent choice of breakfast food. Very friendly staff who allowed us to leave our suitcases there, whilst we Went off travelling. Hotel arranged private pick-up from Changi Airport to hotel at reasonable cost. Beatrice. But in Lobby and all restaurants and bar there is a quiet good free wifi. the corridors could be refurbished, carpets are a little old. But this effect not my rating concerning the quality of the hotel. The windows need cleaning! Also at times you will hear the train passing by behind the building. The lobby may require upgrade, and need to change the sofa in lounge. Do try to get to the wing nearest to the reception area as they are probably newly refurbished. We did not know there was a renovation going on at the car park when we were there, (first week of nov), noise was noisy, but staff assist to get us a high floor which did not affect our stay in the room. :). Swimming pool for toddler is too small. Facilities such as pool and gym could be improved. Seemed outdated and does not feel conducive. The pool is quite run down and definitely needs to be renovated and upgraded. Theres no wi fi in the rooms but at the lobby.The swimming pool is not toddlers and children friendly. Maybe little small lobby. Food could be improved on. The swimming pool looks a bit old, rooms need better sound proofing from outside noise (corridor can be heard). Nil :). booked for a non smoking room but when checked-in, the room smell smoke. eventually found a plastic bag full of cigarette butts under bed. other than that, no complain. The breakfast should improve as having same kind of foods for the past many years. 1) clothed people swimming in a pool !!! appalling! 2) no chance to rest during a day - intense renovation work outside - hammering and vibrations. Honestly, there's information on this on the website... but it's a real inconvenience for people from different time zones. Buffet Breakfast has very limited choices. Hotel may consider refurbishment cause the furnishing are quite old. Parking on the hill slope. Renovation. A bit pricely. Fitness centre and swimming pool is old and small. Low water pressure in the room. Outdoor parking and tickets and its an old building. Location. Time to refurbish. The kid pool was very small.... For a business hotel, they do not have a free wifi anywhere in the hotel. The pool was not fantastic. I am not impressed that the shuttle service has very limited timings. The mattress in the rooms are too old and soft. You will just sink into it. So our night sleep was not as comfortable. The hotel is under renovation at the lobby area, and the lobby was a make-shift. It is rather noisy... No kid's club or child care facilities. Construction for upgrading was going on.. The swimming pool - have to improve the surrounding and pool itself. Put more smiley faces on the reservation staffs. Some of the people who work at the front counter. On first encounter appear to be not friendly thus warm welcome to a guest is not felt. The mutiara's description below didnot include hospitality as total customer experience. As a whole my experience with mutiara is not one of my best. Room was not too clean. Far from public transport/bus station. Baby cot need a new one. there's bed bugs on our bed! suffered itchiness for few days!!!!!!. Under renovation.
