I really don't know where to begin with the all the compliments this resort deserves. From our arrival to our departure, my husband and I were overwhelmed with the staffs hospitality, we were made to feel very special and part of the Rasas family. The Chi Spa was amazingly relaxing, very private and the best one We have ever experienced. This resort was worth the amount we paid to stay in the Rasa Wing. all reviews » Fantastic. Best hotel I ever stayed at. The staff knows how to provide service and makes you feel at home. We stayed at the Rasa wing. At the pool side staff provides fresh fruits an cold towels twice a day. All soft drink are free of charge and at the lobby lounge free tea, sandwiches and cake are served between 3 and 4. Between 6 and 7 freewine, cocktails and snacks are served. If you want a quiet breakfast it will be served to you, but in their "cofee" shop there is a buffet breakfast second. Absolutely loved everything about this resort! Gorgeous rooms with complimentary bottled water every day (more than we could ever drink, actually!); immaculately kept gardens & pool areas with lots of sun lounges (no need to worry about people "reserving" them early in the morning so you miss out); friendly staff who remember who you are & ask about what you've been up to; the most incredibly comprehensive breakfast buffet I've ever seen!; Free wifi was excellent & no connection iss. The Rasa Wing is lovely - room was beautifully done and spacious. Facilities are excellent - high tea and a happy hour are included when you stay in a Rasa room. The staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Travellers should be aware that there is a huge difference in quality between the Rasa and the Garden Wings. It is worth paying that bit extra and getting a real 5 star experience. The spa is also highly recommended. All of the staff were really helpful, we loved the breakfasts, the room was well appointed and the room attendant was really great, we enjoyed the lounge where we had a few wines at night, it was walking distance to restaurants and the local night markets, we loved it. It was a pleasant time for relaxation. It is better to stay in the hotel and enjoy its facilities. If you want to visit penang, it is better to chose another hotel. The facilities were beyond our expectations. The Rasa wing was expensive but had lots of extras. Afternoon tea, cocktails, free tea, coffee and soft drinks all day. It was tired and old - I was incredibly disappointed that this was the 5 star resort I had read such glowing reviews about. It was absolutely not up to my expectations. The toilet in the room was filthy. After putting in a complaint, we were upgraded to a room in the Rasa Wing. The difference between the two wings is incredible. There wasn't enough information on what to do in Georgetown, we were dropped there by the shuttle and picked up, there could have been a bit more information as we were wandering around with a map but not realising we were walking in totally the wrong direction. There is no restaurant close to the hotel. You need to pay too much money to eat in the hotel or take a taxi to reach a restaurant. Having to leave :). The staff at Pinang Bar don't clear used plates and glasses unless asked and that, for a 5* hotel just wasn't good enough. The breakfast was not for Arabs, I ate only eggs the Sauna and steam rooms should be shared, gents and ladies together the hotel activities, nothing suited me, there should be more variaty. TV channels are out of date and not clear. Else everything is excellent. Nil. Location is a bit far from the main town, Georgetown, and unsafe road. The massage is really expensive and very bad u feel that is not massage . Was a bit expensive but worth it. staff did not seem to know much about local sight seeing not well trained in this respect. Nothing. Nothing. Having to leave. Only one thing I didn't like is it is 1 HR far from the airport. the smoking at the beach area. If they have suites 2 rooms. Room maintenance Works were ongoing near the pool making it noisy. carpet is not very clean and no hotel one day tour to see batu Ferringhi. Room service (for two days they didn't clean my room ). Room had some small ants in the room. Far from the city and no much activities near-by. Quality of some of the food and cleanliness of the room. The rooms were shabby and old. Carpet outside of the room was worn. Windows dirty. Dark brown water coming out of the taps. Pool area starting to show its age. Food at the pool side bar / restaurant very average, 3 star standard. Definitely not worth RM 1000 per night . Very very disappointing. This is not a luxury hotel as you would expect from the Shangri la brand . the place is old.
