We arrived 2 hours early before check-in time on a rainy day and were immediately checked into one of the larger room. The room is nicely deco and very clean.The windows are facing the lake and you can even get a view of the Yutei mountain on a clear day. The Pension is run by a friendly couple with a helper who can speak Mandarin and English thus was able to be our translator. We stayed for 2 nights so were able to sample both western and japanese style cooking for dinner and breakfast. The . all reviews »
The pension is clean and comfortable, with the summer fireworks show visible from the lake view room windows. The breakfasts and dinners were delicious and a great value for the money. The staff was extremely kind and accommodating, even with limited English ability. Overall, we highly recommend this place.
Super friendly staff..can barely speak english but the service transcends the language barrier. Great food. Both dinner and breakfast. Please spend the money to order both meals. It is well worth it.. Fireworks too in the summer every night.

nice bathhouse and hotspring, nice breakfast, spacious room, friendly staff, well equipped hotel with free internet, sharing desktop, free coffee etc. the hotel is small and feel very intimate. value for money. can see a bit of fireworks from in front of the hotel.
We really enjoyed staying at Pension Ohno. The room was very large and lake views lovely. The public bath was also great. We also enjoyed being on the outside of Toya Ko where it is not as busy with tourists as the main town.

The local bus system (Donan bus) operates a number of services. Many of the services will stopover at the Toyaku bus terminal. Do make sure you study the bus schedule if you do intend to use the public transport as they are infrequent. From Toyaku station to Pension Ohno is about 1 mile if you want to go on foot.
The pension is a little bit outside of town, so having a car or bike would be helpful.
The onsen is a little too small.
the fireworks display at Lake Toya is a bit further - will need to walk further down to see full display of fireworks on the lake.
