We have travelled widely and found Petra Campana to be one of the most beautiful places we have ever stayed in. We primarily came to Orvieto to look at Luca Signorelli's fresco cycle at the Duomo, and discovered not only this (which was amazing) but also the wonderful Petra Campana located in the mountains nearby. all reviews » Perfection! It's not often that the 'real thing' is better than the pictures or even your imagination, but Pietra Campana is. The view of Orvieto is postcard-perfect; it's jaw-dropping. That, coupled with the two most wonderful, caring and friendly hosts you could imagine, plus magnificent, huge, romantic apartment, and an enormous breakfast ... all within a super-easy drive to fantastic Orvieto and wonderful day trips to some of the best hill-top villages in Italy. What more could you ask for?. The hosts, Fredricka and Maarten, are wonderful. Fredricka is an angel and also a wonderful cook and the breakfasts served in the orignal wine making cellar were fabulous. I'm sure that everyone who spend a vacation and treated by her would like to host her in his own house in order to express his gratitude !! The suite was very nice , we stayed in the attic apartment, and the view of Orvieto was real amazing. I didn't intend to take accomodation in Orvieto area, but when I read the reviews in . Absolutely wonderful setting overlooking Orvieto with tremendous views but easy drive into city parking and lift into city! There is a choice of apartments. 2 in the grounds which offer bedroom en suite living room and kitchen with tasteful Italian style. A top floor apt in the main building with 2 bedrooms dining room bathroom a tiny kitchenette and wonderful views , again tasteful and wow bathroom. Perfect for family or good friends as share bathroom through main bedroom. A real find, almost . Pietra Campana deserves the excellent rating it has. The hosts Frederica and Martin were considerate, welcoming and helpful. Thanks to the proprietors it is the kind of place where even the smallest details are thought of - I mean I was even impressed with the kinds of soap available in the washroom (which is such a small detail!). Breakfast (as mentioned in other reviews) is wonderful. Frederica is a great cook - don't let her tell you she isn't! The apartment and grounds were very clean an. What a wonderful place to spend a night! Our hosts, Federica and Martin were very welcoming and friendly. Our apartment overlooking Orvieto provided breathtaking views, the apartment is huge with everything needed for self catering. Everything including the bathroom was spacious, new and very clean. Breakfast, which was organic and delicious, was served on the patio overlooking the valley with Orvieto in the background. The property is large and you can walk around for hours, and has a swimming. If there was a rating higher than excellent we'd have selected it! Federica and Maarten have an absolutely beautiful place, each apartment is stunning. We stayed in the attic apartment and had unbelievable views of Orvieto and the sunsets were to die for. Breakfast is a buffet feast of meats, cheeses, breads and cakes... Much of which is home made, all served in the beautiful wine cellar. All in all, we cannot praise this place enough and will definitely be back! Oh, and you have to buy a bottl. As soon as we drove up to the hotel, we instantly felt like we had stepped back in time. We were greeted by the owners and had a quick tour of the property. There are no words to describe the view. We knew we wanted to get a bottle of wine, local bread and cheese and olives and just sit there enjoying the view. We so enjoyed Frederica and her wonderful breakfast. It was so difficult to leave, but we knew we picked the perfect place to spend our last night in Italy, before heading back to the US. My husband and I had a perfect stay at Pietra Campana. The property is gorgeous and the apartments are spacious, comfortable and beautifully decorated. Frederica and Martin are excellent hosts. The location is good as well, offering all the peace of the countryside but only 5 minutes from the nearest town and about 10 to wonderful Orvieto. It's also about 15 minutes from Civita di Bagnoregio, a spectacular sight! In short, this place is truly exceptional and I can't recommend it highly enough. The beautiful view of Orvieto from our Attic window, comfortable bed, very good bathroom with complimentary organic soap, shampoo and body balm! The warm welcome and the delicious breakfast! We arrived late from a day of sight seeing, and they were kind enough to make us some platters of cheese and meats so we could stay in our beautiful apartment and look out at Orvieto. A place where you must stay for more than one Night... The view from apartment over valley to Orvieto was just stunning. One could only say Wow wow WOW!!!! Bathroom spacious with separate bath excellent, and bed was very comfortable with good linen. Breakfast was a treat, Frederica makes her own organic jams, and also bakes the most delicious breads, cakes and pastries. The best breakfast in Italy no doubt. People, setting, spectacular view. The staff, the location. The people were super. Loved everything!. That we only booked 1 night and could not stay longer. Need to book at least 2 nights to appreciate. Absolutely nothing. Nothing!. The wifi is unstable.. Nothing at all!. Nothin. Was perfect. Nothing. It was a perfect stay. Nothing. Only 1 comment - they need a clear sign on the road pointing to the property. The location may be somewhat difficult, even when driving your own car. Arrangements made through the friends of the owners (taxi, dinner in near-by village) turned out to be very expensive. Minor improvements for breakfast could be.Not so easy to find as no guide sign on the road. But they said already ordered and will set soon. That we did not stay longer. Nothing. Nothing. The only possible negative point (and it is well described so you know it before you get there) is the absence of a dinner facility: you have to go out every night. But this is rather minor compared to every good point. Nothing. Only one night is not enough to stay here. Minimum - a few days. bed too hard, sent us to a terrible restaurant. Don't change a thing.
